Definitive Audiophile pressings

Yeah, agreed. I think it’s also a snapshot of how many people are looking for high quality releases these days. People are quick to judge releases when they hear they’re from digital files, and in many cases rightfully so. But it’s not always a precursor to a bad sounding pressing - a release can be digital and still sound good. But honestly, it doesn’t make sense in this case given that the former in print version was a BG analog cut.
Someone in the comments suggests the BG cut is from a high res digital source too.

Here's an interesting one. Ordered it awhile ago after someone's recommendation here I think but it finally came back into stock:

Ordered on amazon for $21. It sounds fantastic. Same stampers as the AP pressing, plated at RTI and cut at QRP.

Not great reviews on Discogs either: Nirvana – Nevermind (2021, (30th Anniversary) LIMITED EDITION (1LP + 7in), Vinyl)

Maybe I’ll just return mine if it’s not going to better the BG. I’d like to have the gatefold and 7” but I don’t neeeeeed it.
Now that some more people have it in hand, it seems to be getting more favorable reviews. Maybe take Mikeowneroftheingrooveinphoenixarizona's review with a grain of salt, he was probably just pissed he didn't get all 500 of his orders.

wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. I had a hard time believing that an RKS cut was "unlistenable". i think mine arrives today actually.

I have the MoFI s/t as well and it's great. I think I have heard good stuff about the studio box set as well but can't speak to that. Didn't one of the MoFi pressings have a skipping issue?

I have all the MOFi's with the exception of Brothers in Arms, no skipping issue on mine. They do sound fantastic.

I’m a fan of Mike…. in general but will definitely give it a spin and form my own opinion. I don’t have a $100,000+ system like he has and this will be my first copy of Nevermind, I have a feeling it’ll sound fine to my ears.

I like Mike too, I find him very informative on the state of the vinyl industry and whatnot. I’ve also learned about a lot releases/albums I probably never would’ve come across from his various videos. But yeah, I always have to remember that I don’t have 1/100th of the system he has lol

Agreed he has some worthwhile things to offer. I do wonder though what he would have said about the album if he’d had 500 to sell.

Invited him here in the past, never heard back. Have to go to YT for his opinions so he gets paid.

Ok so I just got through side 1 of the 30th Nevermind.

I don’t understand the extremely bad reviews, it sounds fine. I will have to do a a/b comparison with the BG but I don’t think it’s that far off. Again, I don’t have that special of a setup but I’m not disappointed in this release.

After all, we’re talking about grunge rock here. This isn’t a RVG jazz recording..

I’m happy with the $30 I spent on it. No need to freak out. Sometimes I think people like those over on the SH forums just enjoy being negative.
