I have backorder on MD for a couple of these, what’re the odds they get fulfilled?

might depend on when you placed the backorder. could always give em a call and ask. i've had one time where i had Withers on backorder, MoFi got a restock and I didn't receive it from MD until the following restock.

Thanks, will probably just pay the few extra bucks from MoFi and cancel the MD order just in case. I missed that last B-52s drop of Cosmic Thing and they went much faster than I would’ve thought. Don’t wanna miss out on Wild Planet.

I swear I have a MoFi Garcia and Grisham and a MoFi Miles Davis Nefertiti preordered from MoFi/Music Direct. It has been over a year now? Is this normally how they run their preorders?
I do too. I think MD gets an allocation from the repress and fills what they can from it. But I think the MoFi site gets the most for fresh sales.

Nothing has been normal in the past year for them. MoFi used to get 500 copies of repressed albums very frequently. There was a point where they were restocking multiple albums every week or two. These days, MoFi has had a huge uptick in popularity but they have LOTS on back order with RTI that is trickling through. MoFi fills their orders first and then MD fills them. They are still supposedly getting somewhere around 500 reissue copies per restock but that includes MoFi site back orders, MD back orders and wholesale orders. Each repress is very heavily allocated. If you back ordered stuff a year ago, I think it would be a safe bet that you’d probably get a copy when a repress is done. But if you backordered Withers last week, for example, I’d be way less confident…moFi is allocating some of each repress to their own site in what I take to be a way to build buzz.

Similar delays are happening with AS. Chad supposedly is saying the Bill Evans box will come out in 2022 but that’s been on backorder for years now

Thanks for posting this. I saw it as I got back online sitting on a runway at JFK and was able to grab the Carole King. I’d been keeping my eye on that daily after you initially posted about its imminent availability and would have been kind of bummed if I’d missed it.

Woulda tagged ya if I remembered you wanted it! Glad you got one though.

Thx. Between this forum and Instagram I managed to catch Bill Withers & Evans.

I bought a Bill Evans long ago day of issue preorder but sadly it was a very bad (noisy/pop/tick) pressing on my copy. Obviously, I should have exchanged it but I never got around to it. So, it’s a great record and hopefully the 2nd copy will be quiet like a MoFi should.

The Evans does have tape hiss on it as a heads up...that Withers is excellent though.

My copy is way beyond tape hiss. Pops and tics galore. I’ve cleaned it a couple times on my VPI vac but no joy. Someday if I get my hands on an ultrasonic cleaner I’ll try blasting it but I think my copy is a generally rare bad MoFi pressing. It happens. 2nd copy will be better I’m sure.

figured but just makin sure ya knew!

Anyone have any thoughts on the new MMJ "It Still Moves" pressing? I found most of their older pressings were a mess in terms of pressing quality. And this one is GZ... but it's still Bellman with the master.
