Definitive Audiophile pressings

They didn’t do this one in the AS series. You’re thinking of Getz/Gilberto. I think this was one of the early VMP classics though?
Oh yes! Silly me! I am thinking of the Getz/Gilberto!!! The Getz and Byrd was a VMP Classics ROTM in the early days! Thanks for the correction!

I’m keen to pick up that 45RPM Jazz Samba pressing now! Would love to compare it to the VMP pressing to hear the big differences in sound quality!

Don’t do it to yourself haha. How often do you spin Jazz Samba? If you listen to it a lot and think it can be improved then it might be worth buying this one. Otherwise, if you rarely spin it, it doesn’t make sense to drop that much money. Just my two cents...I’ve done this a bunch in the past and realize it’s just a waste of money at a certain point. Unless you sell the VMP copy which I somehow don’t see you doing!

I mean you are 100% right but it’s @NathanRicaud he's going to do it anyway 😂

I think
it's pretty fascinating to see them update the site in real time though. i'm shocked that they are editing it like how i would a website (and i dont know what i'm doing).
they might have heard you. I looked this morning and got a 404

Yeah, good luck with that, especially in a pandemic! Is tomorrow the first day of the sale? If not, the good news is that it shouldn't be crazy; the bad news is that they'll be picked over. If it is the first day, get there early!
It's the first day. Arrive at 8:00 to be assigned a number. Opens at 9:00. We shall see. I will report back if there is anything good. And if not, I took the vacation day from work for nothing but a story. 😬

Haha! Should be a good story. Around here, people would be there at 6:00 to be in line for the numbers at 8:00 o_O But I like the number idea.

Back in October there was an estate sale here with lots of records. It was a very cold morning so I dressed warm and figured I'd beat the crowd. Got there 90 minutes - 2 hours early and ended up about 20th in line! Honestly couldn't believe it, but it worked out well because the records were spread around the property (mostly outdoors). That setup in the photo you posted looks a bit more challenging. Good luck! and yes, report back.

This was in AP’s “back in stock” email newsletter link. Not sure if it’s a new repress or not:

Here’s the rest of the link:

Yeah, the Seven Steps To Heaven and Father of Folk Blues represses are on the 180g vinyl (even have a "180 gram vinyl" sticker) instead of 200g like the initial pressings were.

One other bit of advice (apologies if this is second-nature to you): when you get your number, ask where the records are located in the house. Nothing more frustrating than being at or near the head of the line and then making a wrong turn once you get into the house!
