Discogs - Help, Tricks, Secrets And Tips

This may have been answered before but, why does discogs charge the taxes from us? Is discogs taking their fees (discogs fee+taxes) and then we have to pay PayPal too? Seems a bit excessive.
My understanding is simplicity and avoiding VAT issues in EU countries. But I could be mistaken.

Discogs and paypal are separate entities. Both perform a service for the seller in the transaction, and take their cuts out of the seller's end.

As for taxes, I assume discogs collects and submits any taxes on top of the purchase price, pursuant to the law of the jurisdiction where the buyer's delivery address is located. So the buyer should be responsible for those.

Question: This entry for The Clash has a Canadian 45 as the bonus single, and it should really be a US single.

OK to delete those pics and update the description? I can't imagine a US copy of this album came with a Canadian 7".

I would say you need to prove it in some way. As much as I agree with you you need backup.

Since it's in the title I figured I'd throw this trick on here...

Releases that are blocked for sale also have the collection stats blocked, but there is a way around this.

https://www.discogs.com/release/stats/ followed by the release number will let you see the number of owners/wish list.

So to see Various - Lost Highway

you would use the url - https://www.discogs.com/release/stats/6929525

It's not the most useful thing, but sometimes it's good to know how many people own that version of a sub when you put in a merge or ask a question/need a response.

My, god! It's a tip, a trick, possibly even a secret!

OMG that guy is the worst. I so wish there was a “block user reviews” function in Discogs.
LOL I genuinely enjoy that guy and his “Ultimate Warrior” bit his comments usually makes me laugh. I also like how people take his bonkers comments seriously. It’s a bit trollish but it’s usually so nuts they are obviously a bit.

The seller does but how do i change to pay pal credit before purchase?
When you checkout, select "Checkout using Paypal." You should then be taken to Paypal, where you will see the payment methods you have added to your account, i.e. cash balance, credit cards, bank accounts and Paypal credit. Just make sure the button for Paypal credit is checked before you confirm payment.

Hi, just popping in to give any current or future sellers a head's up:

Over the past two months I've sold a decent amount of albums. However, in the last week or two tracking numbers have started to show no movement for almost the entire ship time. I've had more than one irate buyer shoot me a message chiding me for not even dropping the packages off as there was no initial scan in at my local PO showing on the tracking.

After several frustrating phone calls with the local PO and the main (national) CS number for the PO, they basically said that because of everything going on currently with the USPS, some services like tracking numbers may not be updating. Anecdotally, 9 of the 15 records I mailed out last week show nothing in the tracking history. Only that the label was created and nothing more. The other are not showing any scan in at the departure city PO and are only updating when they get to the destination city, most the same day they are delivered.

Just a head's up to the sellers out there.

Got a guy trying to school @GentleSenator and I about mastering credits on the When The Pawn sub.

I'm sure he'll run to the forums...but if he re-edits the release I'll probably EI him at this point.

guys like that don't want to visit the forums. it's just too easy to clog up the submission notes.

i totally understand his sentiments & logic, but how many times does one need to be shown the discogs rules for them to accept them?
