Although it is shocking what you do find sometimes when opening up wallsI don’t think I’ve ever seen a metal stud used in residential construction.

I know like.... nothing of construction so this is possibly true. Though I am in Canada, the land of strange and mysterious minor differences so who knows?I don’t think I’ve ever seen a metal stud used in residential construction.
Very true. Very, very true.Although it is shocking what you do find sometimes when opening up walls
Have you considered the Grado Gold2? I much prefer the sound of the Grado, I swapped from the Ortofon to it. Also if you are determined to go Ortofon the blue is a much better cart than the red and well worth more than the difference in price.
An external phono stage will be a step up from the one built into that table but sadly unless you are electronically capable enough to physically remove the lp120s phono stage it still colours and muddies the sound even when turned off...

Yeah, that’s a fair point. Of course the way those are built is more inline with large commercial construction than what I think of when it comes to residential which skews more towards single family homes or duplexes.I’ve seen them in plenty of apartments and condos. Only once in a sfr though, and I don’t think that one was to code. Creepy ass house in Seattle we looked at.
My dad bought a new house in Jupiter, FL in the late 90s. It had metal studs for whatever reason. Everything else has been wood, though.I don’t think I’ve ever seen a metal stud used in residential construction.
Quick question- can I use this cartridge alignment guide on my U-Turn Orbit old-style arm with a Grado Black 2 cartridge?
I ask because I don’t have a working printer but I have this PDF printed out from a while back when I set up an LP120. I threw away the sheet I used to previously set up my Orbit.
Exciting times!! Funny that I had the same 3 on my short list when looking to upgrade from the Orbit and then it ended up being a two table race with the VPI & MoFi. I would recommend the MoFi of course because that's what I went with and couldn't be happier. That being said, with @HiFi Guy knowing your system a little better is a big help, but with that budget and the tables you listed, you're gonna be happy with the end result no matter whatHi @HiFi Guy and @everyone!
Hope you are all doing well today. Since HFG helped me put together my new system last year I have been in musical bliss! I’ve been listening to some amazing records (and digital) and am so happy with my set up. However, even at the time we knew that the weak link in my chain was the UTurn TT. It isn’t bad, just comparatively it really doesn’t hold up to the rest of the components.
Well, a year later, the time has come. I’m ready to jump into a new table after my discussion with @NoToneStraw last night. So I’m looking for recs from you all and specifically from @HiFi Guy because he knows the synchronicity if my system. I’m looking for a good TT in the 2-3K range though my budget is flexible if we find the right TT. Currently my system goes like this:
Nagaoka 110>UTurn>Sutherland Insight>PS Audio Gain Cell DAC>PS Audio S300>Sonos Fabre Olympica II speakers.
I’ve been looking at the Music Hall MMF-9, The VPI Super Prime Scout, and the MoFi Ultratracker. But I’m open to all thoughts and opinions. Thank you all in advance!
Excellent! Thank you for weighing in. I know your system is also very tight and I’ve been eyeing your MoFi for the better part of a year. LolExciting times!! Enjoy!
I think the decks you have on your list are all pretty solid, your budget puts you in a good place and in that category/budget, a little personal taste will start to factor in in terms of aesthetic. Nothing against the other two tables, but I liked the clean lines of the MoFi, while I'm not sure what the arm length on the MH is, the Socut is 9" and one of the pluses, in my opinion, of the MoFi is that 10" arm. Then the dampening on the UD is great and I'm sure the triple plinth of the MH is no slouch So there is a little give and take, but as I said, I'm sure you'll be happy with any.........barring any last minute entry by @HiFi GuyExcellent! I agree with you, I will be pretty happy no matter which route I go. I’m trying to be thoughtful as I don’t plan on making any Herculean updates to my system for a few years after this (cart not withstanding). Well, unless some amazing deal comes along.
I’m searching for sales/deals/open box specials on all three tables and ran across this. Seems to be a very good price for a less than year old TTI think the decks you have on your list are all pretty solid, your budget puts you in a good place and in that category/budget, a little personal taste will start to factor in in terms of aesthetic. FWIW, I was leaning towards that VPI before I found the deal on my Pro-Ject. But as you said, I don't think you can go wrong at that price range.Hi @HiFi Guy and @everyone!
