Loving my Series S. The first Xbox I've ever owned, and Game Pass is class. Honestly don't care about it doing native 4K and all the other bells and whistles, just loving playing good games. Only thing I'm not 100% used to yet is the UI, but other than that I highly recommend it.I've out of nowhere started thinking of doing this. I'm pretty casual as a gamer, and honestly can't imagine loving something more than the Switch due to its portable mode, but as someone who's only previous generation console was the Wii U (and 3DS) something like the Series S would be a pretty big upgrade. The last X Box I had was the 360, the last Playstation I had was the PS1.
at its price I'm thinking that having a Series S and Game Pass would keep me pretty content, especially in addition to the Switch. I also don't have a killer TV which I think is also part of the PS5/Series X equation for achieving the best experiences.
My only caveat - you can fill the hard drive very quickly. I'd consider a portable HHD at some point.Loving my Series S. The first Xbox I've ever owned, and Game Pass is class. Control is pretty dang great. (I should really get around to finishing that.)View attachment 120245
The games I ordered on cyber Monday at 60% off have arrived. What should I play first?

Control was the first or second game I played on my PS5! It's SO good. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Also, I've been playing Tales of Arise the past month or so. It's so much fun. Easily the best Tales game that I've played. I'm also easy to please though, so who knows
I really loved Tales of Arise. It was the first Tales games I played though. I was talking about it with my co-workers after the game got snubbed of any awards.
What my co-workers said was Tales of Arise was very hit or miss. You either loved it or hated it. And it was a miss for around half of the fans of the franchise. Overall the game flopped. Which is hard for me to believe.
One of my co-workers dropped it very early on in game play. Couldn't stand it.
Control is kicking my ass. I keep getting slaughtered anytime I face any enemies with guns. By the time I aim my gun on the first enemy 75% of my health is gone. Anyone have some advice for me on what I need to do to not take hits and take down the foes.
Wow really? Happen to remember what the complaints about Arise were from the franchise fans?? I have issues with the CP system (I run out way too often, and the items to replenish it are way too expensive imo), but other than that I’ve enjoyed every part of it!
Man I wish I had advice for Control, ive played so many things since then and I can’t remember much about what worked for me. I know I was able to abuse the attachments or whatever they’re called to boost your stats
It was the story and characters the franchise fans didn't like. It was very hit or miss with them.
I'm still very early on in Control, so no boosted stats yet. So that's probably my issue. Going to be a bitch for a little while.
If I could afford (and find) a PS5 I would absolutely be playing Returnal. I've watched some gameplay of it and I'm intrigued. On top of what you mentioned, from what I've seen there's a bunch of lore to slowly uncover as well.My partner picked us up Returnal during Playstation's Black Friday sale, and we're really digging it!
It's super challenging, the likes of which should please Soulsborne fans. The art direction is *chefs kiss* and it controls super smoothly, too!
When I think about it, Returnal's a super juiced-up version of Risk of Rain 2 with the procedurally generated level layouts and subtle roguelite progression of Dead Cells/Hades—and it really really works for me.
That said I've only just made it to the second territory after facing the first boss for a week, and it's only supposed to get more challenging from here. Totally feels like something @Fillip J Phry would drop regular progress updates on.
I put everything into launch early on and whenever I could to max it out. It's by far the best attribute IMO. It did make the later stages of the game almost too easy because it's so effective to launch items at every enemy and almost never use any ammo.Control is kicking my ass. It's such a good game! I'm jealous you're playing it for the first time!
Using cover and stunning enemies with launched items are your best friends. Also, heals come from killing enemies, so if you're low try to take out someone weaker quickly and rush over to them. The little white bits that pop out are the heals. You might be able to break stuff too? I can't remember there. I found keeping mobile is also a good strategy - I used the tried and true "circle the perimeter" method a lot. That being said, encounters can be very challenging, especially earlier on when your powers are limited, and I had my fair share of deaths in the game.I'm still stuck at the central executive office. I keep getting slaughtered by gun fire.
I'm finding I'm much better at taking out enemies by running / jumping in any pressing triangle to attack
It takes me 3 to 5 shots per person to kill them with a gun I just get taken out by other people firing on me in the process.
Anything I can do to avoid gun fire? Or heal?
Correct me if I'm wrong but you can launch projectiles at this point yes? If so always do that, the gun is a last resort. The projectiles do far more damage until the gun can be upgraded.I'm still stuck at the central executive office. I keep getting slaughtered by gun fire.

Cover as in hiding behind objects?Using cover and stunning enemies with launched items are your best friends. I got this on Switch about a week ago for like $2.00 and finally started it last night. looks like I got about halfway through. not sure what the hell is going on, who anyone is, etc.. but so far it's enjoyable.Been playing through Inside. Perfect puzzler with an intriguing, wordless, story development and great atmosphere. Perfect because automatic incremental checkpoints means I can pick it up for 5 minutes or 30 very easily. The controls are so simple there's never any lost muscle memory to play it. No idea how far I am into it but I have put in probably 2 hours total.
