Like @Mather says the value of Gamepass vs PS+ is not comparable for the cost. Sony excluding first party titles at release really hurts their positioning.

Personally I’ve used PS+ for the cloud save function, but can’t justify it at the upcoming pricing. Pretty disappointing to seem them not learn from mistakes of the PS3 era, and throwing away the good will they’ve earned.

This whole price increase thing seems to be plaguing the streaming/subscription industry as a whole. Disney is raising the price of their products and I am sitting weighing the price vs value. Feels like consumers are screwed left and right.

I reupped PS+ this month to finish Demons Souls, Sackboy and DaH2, but after that I'm cancelling and just buying the games I want. The library isn't nearly as good as game pass' and doesn't justify the price hike.

yeah, that's definitely bad, and I'm not defending it. but when comparing the cost of the mid-tier, which I'd assume most people had, to Game Pass well then Game Pass went up by $2 per month vs PS+ going up by $3 per month. I know it adds up, but the fact that Sony got so slammed for this while Microsoft seemingly skated by unnoticed is a bit strange to me.

now I don't have PS so I don't know if it's as valuable as Game Pass where being a dollar more per month is terrible pricing. but it costing $100 per year just to play online and cloud saves is fucking ridiculously bad pricing!
I didn't even check to see and I don't remember any notice that it was going up. Bastards.

Pretty sure yes. Now they just turn the screws on loyal PlayStation owners.

Ps3 era was completely free.

I cancled online witht the price increase. I don't use it except for occasional co-op with my best friend. And he just had a second kid. I'm a Sony gamer because their single player AAA titles are bomb not because I buy COD every year.

Not giving me free cloud storage is horse shit and 33% incapsulates greedflation... but I gotta point out that Microsoft is the one who created the model to charge for something that should have been free to begin with. And you can say Gamepass is a good deal now, but one only needs to look at Netflix to see how streaming as a primary business model is dangerous for art.

Feels like ages since I've done this, but I've actually finished a game: Persona 3 Portable. And by finished, I mean completed. I originally debated on if I wanted to do a second playthrough, but decided to since the female protagonist has different social links and some story tweaks. I'm glad I did, it was fun to see this extra content, as well as fighting the two secret bosses. Well, one of them at least, Margaret was legitimately a good, challenging fight that tests your knowledge of the systems in the game. Elizabeth could have been as well, but has a bullshit mechanic that makes winning pure luck. In her fight, she has 20,000 health and it's a one on one fight with the protagonist. Can't use any equipment that repels or absorbs magic, or she just kills you. Countering is ok, and actually mandatory. The fight is fairly simple - she gets 2 attacks each turn and will cycle through the elemental types in the same order every time. Attacks are either magic or physical, totally random what she'll pick. First portion of the bs is the last elemental type - almighty. This will one shot you unless you have an item called infinity that makes you invincible for a turn. As long as you counter that, it's a straightforward process of whittling down her health and healing as needed. BS part 2 centers around the damage - you have to keep track of it until she has just over 10,000 health. If she drops below 10K, she will fully heal. Once you hit between 10K and 10,400 you have to stop attacking and pray for her to use a physical attack that you counter. This is the only way to get her below the 10K threshold so that you can use an item called Armageddon to deal 9,999 and finish her off. BUT, BS part 3 - since she gets two attacks, if that counter comes from her first attack of the turn, she will just heal on the second. If you don't get this 1st try, you're probably going to lose, because after 10 rounds of cycling through the elements, she just kills you anyways, and it takes 4-6 rounds to get her health down to the right amount. Margaret on the other hand uses some similar setup and tactics, but you have your party and it's basically just win in 50 turns or she kills you. Still tough, but she doesn't force you to rely on a lucky counter as the only means of victory. One minor gripe that I hope they fix in the remake. I plan on playing that too somewhere waaaaaay down the line.

Now that I beat it, I plan on playing Sea of Stars and Starfield. Still playing TotK here and there, and doing Isaac runs once in a while. Currently on a 140+ loss streak with Tainted Loss - trying to beat Mother. Ed really cranked up the "spawn stuff right on top of the character" slider for this path in particular, because that's most of my late game deaths.

I fully recommend Sea Of Stars...I still haven't started Starfield because I'm so enamored with Sea Of Stars.

that said, I'll hopefully finish it this weekend, if not tonight, and can finally start playing Starfield!

I think they buried it at the bottom of a blog post. Subscribers only got notified directly via email that the change happened.
I suppose I should read those emails closer. I'm just used to them being advertisements for stuff on my wishlist.

I've been looking forward to it. Same studio that did The Messenger, which was a masterpiece. Fully confident they're going to do this genre proud as well!

I've started Sea and Starfield, but that fishing game keeps pulling me back in. It's peaceful and I can start and stop whenever, which is more and more appealing the older I get and the less time I have to game. I just forget what I'm doing to easily now. I wasn't this dumb when I smoked weed all day everyday, but my memory is shot to hell by life.

I never played The Messenger despite all the praise, but it's currently on sale for like $5.00 on Switch so I grabbed it the other day and am super stoked to play it because of how much I love Sea Of Stars despite them being totally different genres

I also grabbed Inscryption for Switch on sale and am excited to play that! I don't know much about it, which apparently is the way to go into it

Oh boy, The Messenger! What a good game. Really clever too in the switching between 8 and 16 bit graphics. Altogether a fantastic and, at times, really challenging game.

I guess I'll have to give this Sea of Stars game a look-see.

it's completely different type of game from The Messenger, as it's a throwback JRPG game in the style of Chrono Trigger.

the pixel art and animation is top tier and simply gorgeous, the music is great, the story is engaging and takes some pretty wild twists and turns from what the game initially presents.

and if you have Game Pass or PS+ you can play it on there without needing to buy it, though I would never discourage anyone for supporting the devs and paying for it!

Yes, I checked out the game on steam a couple of days ago when I first started seeing chatter about it so I'm tracking the gamestyle vs The Messenger.

Seeing y'all continue to heap praise makes it, at the very least, a game that will make it to my wishlist. I don't know if the current price of $35 is attractive to me but if it creeps down to around 20 on a steam sale then I'm probably in.

It’s available on Xbox/PC gamepass and PlayStation plus if you have either
