Everything Video Games!

I picked up No Man's Sky last night from the PS4 sale going on. Exploration games aren't usually my thing but I'm really curious about the VR mode and it was a good price. Planning to check it out this weekend.

I can't lie, Phantasy Star Online 2 might get me to brush off the controller.......logged a lot of hours back in the day :)

Anyone else played Death's Gambit? I picked it up on Game Pass, and have been loving it so far. I know this comparison gets thrown around a lot, but this game is straight up Dark Souls translated to a 2D platformer. Sort of vague story that unfolds as you explore (and die in this case). A resting point that allows you to level up and heal, while also resetting enemies. Multiple classes and a starting item to choose from. Clunky combat controls that force you to really consider each action. The big changeup to the formula that is kind of cool in this one revolves around healing items (feathers). You can upgrade them to give you added benefits/heal more on use. You can also choose to "sacrifice" them to increase your attack. Basically, for every feather you elect to not be able to use, you gain 10% attack bonus. Also, when you die, you don't lose your souls, instead you drop a feather where you died. You can drop more than one upon multiple deaths too. There is an option to recover them at the resting points, but it costs roughly the equivalent of a level up in souls to get them back. I've had to use this several times due to dying in areas I was probably not supposed to be in yet. Boss fights are fun and punishing, and you can find up to two lore books per boss, which tell a little bit about them and give you a 5% damage bonus each. Admittedly, I've hit a bit of a wall, as I'm stuck between two bosses that are whooping me, and another area full of enemies I can't damage.

I've also been playing Hollow Knight again. Gotta be one of my favorite games ever. I've hit the point in the game where everything really opens up (got the dream nail and the three dreamer locations), and I'm hit with the same overwhelming feeling I got the first time. The game feels a bit gated until this point, but now I'm trying to remember where's best to go first.

I hope the next gen of consoles has better cooling, at least the playstation (not sure if Xbox has this issue). I picked up No Man's Sky during a sale, wanting to check it out and see the VR. Holy shit my ps4 pro sounds like a turbine, to the point where it's distracting to play. I've seen some people say there's an improvement if you replace the thermal paste but I'll probably just play something it can handle a little easier.

My One X does the same thing at certain points, though I have noticed it's way more prominent with certain games/menu's.

Have you seen the ps5 dev console? Hopefully that's been addressed by the vents galore. Not sure how different the consumer model will be.

Ah ok, I wasn't sure. For most of the games I play it's pretty good but there's a few where it's just bad

I haven't, I've been waiting on the announcement and haven't looked around too much. That sounds like good news, hopefully they've addressed it.

soooo i was able to pre-order the animal crossing themed switch!

but it also comes with the game, and i don't really actually care for the game itself, so i think i'm just gonna give it to my mom or my brother :p:ROFLMAO:
