Feature requests?

I wish regular members could update their titles. Or that there were at least some process in place to 'earn' a forum title.

When the forum started, and weeks into it, we discussed ad nauseum about allowing this feature and ultimately decided it'd just be another unnecessary facet to moderate. I don't see it changing anytime soon but I also wouldn't say it's completely off the table either.

Mods should at least be able to grant them to long-time members. The default titles are so bland. It's like we all live in an apartment complex but only the super is allowed to paint his door.

I think titles are like nicknames -- the ones you try to give yourself are almost always more lame than the ones your friends decide are right for you. But sometimes they're also insults.
I still like that you use John Malkovich as you avatar by the way. Hopefully you didnt take that as an insult when I said he could play you in a movie.

Yeah, with the "Mod" and "Admin" tags it's not necessary to limit the silly titles. I think a combo time and post threshold to unlock could be nice--to encourage participation without rewarding mindless posting sprees. No one wanted to deal with it at the time which was totally reasonable, but I do think it's worth revisiting down the road. I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, haha.

Is it possible to have a 'Mods Online' subsection below the 'Staff Online' bit on the home page? I gather most people will know who the mods are by now, but for any new members joining with questions or gripes who feel going straight to the admin/staff is a bit OTT or if no staff are online, it may prove handy to have that information easily displayed without having to find it in the thread where we are listed. Or even if it was a tab within the members list?

Mods have been added to the Notable Members page under Members so that the forum can see who they are. We'll probably move that tab from it's current location in the middle of the "Stats" tab to next to the Staff tab ;)

Yeah I think I posted somewhere else that silly titles should, in theory, take less moderating than posts just because it’s there in black and white every time you put something up. Also if it’s limited to after a certain amount of posts/likes it will be a reward for those more invested and less likely to describe themselves as something obscene. Also, we the proles are special too 😎

I also think self moderation is something we need to promote, if you think something is offensive report it, moderators and staff aren’t omnipotent.

The main issue is that we have to manually input the titles for you.

Is the watched threads thing being worked on to have all the unread listed first?
There is no option to change how the Watched Threads filter in the current build. It might be something we can customize the page coding to do, but it's a back burner option at the moment.
