Well...I don't really have too many applicable choices here LOL. This is a hi-life LP recorded in Ghana Film Studios in '78. The textures are really jubilant and tickle the senses. I have to thank my Santa from this past year for the selection, who happens to be our host for this month!

Orchestra Baobab "" "Specialist in all styles"

I just love this album, it's so good. ☀️

Also for me still so much to get to know about music from and related to Africa.
I need to ckeck out the great releases by record label "Analog Africa" this month, which are also available on bandcamp. Thanks @Poly-Rythmo for recommending them.

Day 3 - Africa

Afro-Beat Airways
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - The Vodoun Effect

I feel you @LeSamourai on a day like today - picking my favourite here is like choosing my favourite child! So I chickened out and went for two. I listened to a fair bit of African music before especially after my time in Paris and North-African groups like Orchestre National de Barbes. But these two compilations from Analog Africa from 2009 and 2010 really pushed me into it head first. They're such great introductions to Ghanaian highlife, and the wonders of Poly-Rythmo and all their different types of rhythm. Even more remarkably the Poly-Rythmo tracks are recorded with only one or two microphones and still sound amazing.

Wed 3 – Africa

Fela-Ransome Kuti & The Africa '70 "Afrodisiac" (1973 Capitol, original Canadian pressing)

I think this is my favorite Fela studio record. It's also an inspiration for Remain in Light.

William Onyeabor - Body & Soul

William Onyeabor was one of my gateways into African music. One of his songs was featured in a commercial and it was such an ear worm that I had to look into who was making such an incredibly funky sound. I am glad I did because not only did it lead me to the rest of his phenomenal catalog but also to many other artists from the African continent that I had never considered prior.

Felix Laband - Deaf Safari

I'm gonna stick the cover in a spoiler tag, because it's kinda disturbing, but that's because it reflects an element of this album from South African producer Felix Laband: samples of South African politics and field recordings mix with samples from the wider world of pop culture, religion, violence, and more. It's a sociopolitical collage that sounds like not much else out there, a celebration and an indictment of life and politics on the southern tip of the continent. Sadly, the vinyl version is missing some tracks, so I'm gonna stick with my FLAC files for the full experience.
