Fresh Grabs

Much needed something good at the doorstep today. The International Anthem order had the records shipped outside the sleeves, nice!

Irreversible Entanglements - Who Sent You?
Alabaster DePlume - To Cy & Lee
Junius Paul - Ism
Monophonics - It's Only Us (blue/girls)
Pete LaRoca - Basra
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow

Norway is close to lockdown (schools closed, all people coming from outside Nordics straight into quarantine) so these are probably my last record store grabs for some time. I'm just back from Finland where I was able to boost my Finnish jazz collection a fair bit. These albums are really excellent.

Olli Ahvenlahti - The Bandstand
Eero Koivistoinen - 3rd Version
Olli Ahvenlahti - Based On A Novel
Eero Koivistoinen Quartet - Labyrinth

Fans of jazz fusion at the rowdier end should check out 3rd Version. And a bonus was that nearly all of the records were housed outside of the outer sleeves, reducing risk of damage during travel (would love if more did that). As a bonus, I also picked this up from this excellent record from the best band from Guinea Bissau (must admit to not having any more from there, although plenty from Guinea).

Hey there. I don’t know why I haven’t been on here as much. For a while, I’ve had a lot on my mind and haven’t been able to shake it. It’ll get better.

I haven’t bought as many records and realized that I guess because of my mood. Here are some recents:

Caroline Rose - Superstar
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow

Good to have you back here, @EmeryRK! great picks - and that Pet Sounds should be a tonic we could all use right about now. Hang in there - sending good karma your way 🤘🏻

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo - Tombola Tche Dou Nou
Orchestre Black Santiago - Avortement Interdit
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo - Nou Vide Bada
Sunny Black's Band - Angelina

Three picture sleeves for African singles is amazing (very few of mine come with them), and even I'm a bit stunned at the quality of the songs. Two of the rarest Poly-Rythmo songs bought for, well, a song as well as one from their precursor band that I've never seen before, and one from Benin's other powerhouse band (Black Santiago). Feel lucky getting these as don't know how long post will keep going - Poland, I believe, is stopping delivering foreign post from tomorrow. I've got stuff from Colombia and Africa out there somewhere. Still, much more important things to worry about....

Did you checked Superfly web shop yesterday? They added tons of African LPs.
