Fresh Grabs

Received 2 records ordered cheaply from dodax today. First, the third Libertines album "Anthems for doomed youth". While I absolutely agree with @Joe Mac that the rough, more punklike production of their first two records sounds better, I couldn't say no to this for €11 as I really love their songs and also the solo works of Doherty and Barat. 🙂

The other is my third Rolling Stones Half - Master, the 2 lp one of "A bigger bang", also for a great price on dodax, for about €21.

I don’t hate it, I just feel that the shiny production neutered their style too much and that it’s a fair way below the first two resultantly. I still own the CD and played it a fair few times and enjoyed it!

I spent the last three weeks on holidays and came back to work today: here are the records I received at work and at home and the ones I picked up at Balades Sonores.

Next, some Disquaire Day (French RSD) releases last month and one of the best OST ever. Then some Japanese Jazz from Somethin' Else and Key of Life+. I've been looking for RM Jazz Legacy 2 for a while but couldn't find it anywhere. I ended sending an email to the label owner, the renowed Japanese dj Hiroko Otsuka. It happens that not only she answered and found a way to ship me this record but we also started sending some e-mails and I'll set two J-Jazz mixes for her radio KOL Radio. She is a wonderful person and I am very proud to be invited to participate in her project. I will do my best to select some great tunes from J-Jazz classics and modern artists. If anyone knows a free software to create mixes, please tell me.

Dee Nasty ‎– Paname City Rappin'
DJ Cam Quartet ‎– The Essential
Neil Young ‎– Homegrown
The Blues Brothers ‎– The Blues Brothers (Original Soundtrack Recording)

Last post. I didn't had the opportunity to make a stop at Balades Sonores since the beginninh of the year. I had orders and Disquaire Day releases to pick up. Of course I ended buying a few records more. I came out with all of this.

Horace Tapscott - The Horace Tapscott Sessions Vol.1 to 7. All of these are OG Nimbus West records, I almost ordered them from Mr Bongo a few months ago but they sold out. Well it seems that these records were sold to Balades Sonores and I pulled trigger as soon as they added these titles in their webshop.

Terumasa Hino Meets Reggie Workman ‎– A Part
Terumasa Hino ‎– Journey To Air
Terumasa Hino Quintet ‎– Love Nature

The White Stripes - De Stijl
Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie

My copy of De Stijl sounds great. Hopefully this will finally spur me into adding White Blood Cells and Elephant to my collection.

A big shout out to @scotthilk for pointing me to a Discogs steal on Shotgun Willie. It looks and sound great. I have been looking for a reasonable price copy of this gem for a while now and am elated to have a good copy in my collection.

Jealous on that Build Me Up From Bones.

Definitely fortunate to have picked it up when I wasn't collecting a ton but loved the album. Follow Me Down and the I'm WIth Her Spotify Singles are my dual holdouts, though Sarah did indicate they're looking at repressing on her solo ventures so fingers crossed.
