Little Wings

Here we have a couple Original K Records Pressings of Little Wings Light Green Leaves and Wonderue

I happened across both of these at a local record store and let out an audible “WHOAH” upon flipping by these in my recent arrivals bin. Obviously living in the Pacific Northwest as I do you’d be more likely to stumble as stuff like this than you would elsewhere that being said I was still pretty excited as they aren’t the most common releases.

I was most excited to purchase Light Green Leaves even though I already own a nice repress of this because Light Green Leaves is a strange bird.

When It was initially released in the early 2000’s the album was released in 3 different formats; cassette, LP, and CD. Each format had a different cut of the album cassette being the rough demos and CD being the final completed take, the LP falling somewhere between the two. The repress that I own (which sounds great BTW) was actually not a repress at all but an initial pressing of the CD version on wax (kinda confusing, I know) so now I own both versions and could not be happier especially when you add Wonderue into the mix which is my 2nd favorite Little Wings album and one that was only ever pressed once about 15 years ago and is pretty hard to come by.

Great PIF! Many thanks to @BazookaTooth.

Smut Peddlers ‎– Porn Again (Rawkus - 2001)

With the exception of Kool Keith's Sex Styles, sex in hip-hop has been disappointing recently. Pioneers like 2 Live Crew and Too Short fell off a long time ago. Fortunately, High & Mighty members Mr Eon and Mighty Mi have teamed with Cage to create the Smut Peddlers. Their debut full-length takes advantage of the superb chemistry the trio displayed on "In-Outs," from the High & Mighty's Home Field Advantage. Mighty Mi's funky, stripped down beats are even better this time up, bumping so that underground heads will get open at clubs; if the DJs are smart enough to spin it. Vocally, Mr Eon's slower, old school-influenced rhymes and bass-y voice greatly complements Cage's excessive, fast-paced and high-pitched vocals. And, considering the subject matter has been done to death, Cage and Eon more than capably create sex rhymes from a unique perspective. While the subject matter means unlikely commercial success, rhymes like Cage's "If you see me with a little pop jingle, shoot me in the back of the head and feed me to my starving brethrens," from "That Smut," expresses a total disregard for that route. Instead, the Smut Peddlers have created a hit underground album with guest appearances from icons like Kool G Rap (on the remake of his classic track "Talk Like Sex Part II") and abstract sexpert Kool Keith ("Stank MC's"), along with underground associates Copywrite ("Anti Heros") and RA the Rugged Man; who gets crustified on "Bottom Feeders," in addition to directing the very funny triple-X video for the song. Now say it with me: "I'm Porn Again." (Rawkus).

Anyone’s have any success fixing something this messed up? Or should i try to seek out a replacement? It’s 2LP, so I think that kept it from snapping in half.

Currently have it under a stack of records. Not sure it will really do anything.

Man that sux! Recently I just purchased a bigger mailbox because I ship out a lot of stuff. Well I have 2 postal carriers, one of them places my records on the porch but the other one puts them in the mailbox. Now I live in Atlanta where it’s on average 90 degrees plus the records don’t lay flat in the mailbox so it’s the perfect recipe for warping.

Went to grab a Birthday gift for my Father (T Rex - Electric Warrior) and ended up grabbing these two for my self.

Jazzy weekend lined up!

Milt Jackson With John Lewis, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke, Lou Donaldson And The Thelonious Monk Quintet (1978 Blue Note Japanese King Mono pressing)
Unless I'm mistaken I believe this is my first record with Milt Jackson as the leader, super exciting!

Thelonious Monk - Solo On Vogue (1984 Japanese King Mono pressing on Vogue)
Its in fantastic condition and I picked this up for £2 plus postage, cant complain there!

Miles Davis - Miles Davis And The Modern Jazz Giants (1967 First UK Pressing on Transatlantic Records)
A relatively sought after one, for some reason this looks to go for more money than the First US pressing. Not sure why. Fantastic line-up on this album!

Sarathy Korwar - More Arriving (2019 Limited Edition Red Translucent pressing on Leaf records)
Big fan of his 2018 live album 'My East is Your West'. He seems to have taken more of a collaborative approach on this one, incorporating rap, spoken word, etc.

The Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz Paperback by Leonard Feather & Ira Gitler
Picked this up for a few quid. Not quite what I imagined it to be, but it will certainly be a guide reference point when im reading liner notes and picking musicians to look into

Sweet £11 deal from Amazon for this latest International Anthem release joined by seminal free jazz album, Julius Hemphill’s Dogon A.D. This looks to be the only vinyl offering from audiophile company International Phonograph Inc. who seem to specialise in 1/4 inch Master Tape Copies. Hoping this sounds great.
