Hip Hop

Seems like it will be more widely available since Fat Possum is putting it out. It would be cool if they did a special edition but I'm not sure they've done that for an AH record before.

Definitely ready for them to at least drop a single!
so i know fat possum did the distribution for Maps, but it was still backwoodz. this one is really having no backwoodz involvement? strange, my postcard showed up yesterday.

I believe so. This is all I have to go on:

Would be cool if Fat Possum did normal and Backwoodz did a limited but not sure if that will happen. Hope Fat Possum does a decent press. HDP has done a pretty good job with Backwoodz releases.

For me in the UK Maps, much like Shrines have been bad experiences for me trying to get from here or the EU. Juno this time for Maps and HHV last time for Shrines, I’m hope I’m wrong but they have differing place holder dates up. Had to buy Shrines flipped on Discogs and am patiently waiting for an update from Juno but it is becoming apparent that they will not be sending me my order. If this is with the new improved disto then I hope it improves. They need to up the press numbers to stop this.
My major issue after this semi-rant is they could have just said they didn’t have the stock to cover the pre-orders a lot earlier. Juno don’t take advanced payment but HHV was sitting on my money whilst I watched Discogs prices go mental.

Direct from backwoodz is the way but that shipping really hurts these days.

Apparently rough trade was sending out emails about copies of Maps being lost in transit that they didn't receive. I don't know if that affected Juno as well. There has been word of a repress coming. Rough Trade has sent emails about a new release date in October. Hopefully you will get an update soon.

I'm sure the intent of Fat Possum putting the new one out is to increase numbers and distro.

That‘s some good news if true. Just checked RT here and they have the presale still up dated 10/20, Juno is coming soon dated 12/25 and HHV have the CD dated 08/11 so… Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting.

This might be a crazy take but I wish all drumwork and bsf would just cut it out and stop existing.
No one wants to hear that shit.

They just dull af and all I want to hear between the two is Conway and Benny.

I feel like that is the majority opinion lol. There are a few good tracks here and there so I just take what I can get on those and wait for the trio.

Benny should be coming somewhat soon with Everybody Can't Go.

They keep working overtime to shove the shit in our faces but in the end I just skip to the benny/conway verse and ignore the trash now.
Its awful.

Being friends with someone with talent doesnt = you have talent

I like Rick Hyde and El Camino. Plates II was pretty great. Also think 7xvethegenius is really nice lyrically. Conway and Benny are using their fame and reach to bring up people that have been with them from the start which is also great, and it's a lot more than a lot of other artists do. It's simple enough to just not listen to them if you don't like them. I do feel like Benny and Conway try to shoehorn their artists into beats that aren't necessarily fitting for their style though. That's where I think they can make improvements.

I get all excitable on days like this and just noticed RT listing, same for UK/US. No mention of numbers or exclusivity but grape???

and here in UK…

…just seen on reddit it is 12,000 units.

Yeah sounds like grape may be the "indie variant" or something.

I agree with your points. My favorite artist by far on Drumwork is Lucky Seven. Before this most recent release, he was only doing artwork layout and sequencing and stuff. But before even joining onto DW, he put out several records which are all high quality, especially Post Traumatic Slave Disorder which was one of my favorite releases from 2019. I was really irritated that he wasn't getting a chance to actually rhyme but that changed on the Conway Presents record. Definitely worth checking out.

Haven't finished it yet, but I'm REALLY digging Post Traumatic Slave Disorder. Thanks for that! I'll definitely dig into more of his stuff.
