Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

Holy smokes! Maybe I'm just totally unaware because I don't think anyone in the US distributes? What's the difference between a $7K LP12 and a $25K LP12??
I have a difficult time following this logic.
Plus it looks like plywood.

  • Highly compressed orthogonal layers of beech wood, compared to original solid hardwood - significantly reduces resonances, providing better isolation for the turntable mechanism

Nick, are you spinning a Rega these days? I think I recall you saying you'd just had enough with a unipivot, yeah?
I’ve been running one for almost two years in one of my systems. I had it upstairs after I sold my brother-in-law my restored AR. Then I sold my VPI and moved the Rega down there when I got my Feickert about a year ago. I like to experiment/play with new equipment, so stuff tends to rotate.

Ooooh. Everyone knows “white glue” is three times as good, and five times more expensive, than “green glue.” Millions of kindergartners can’t be wrong!
Buddy - I’ll even upgrade you to beige glue!

Hey if they were still in production!

Definitely still in production. Not sure on distribution but we have a shop here that's a big Linn dealer. Differences are parts since it basically modular and virtually every single part can be upgraded.

One of my locals recently picked Linn up and have an LP12 on active display. (Soundings in Greenwood Village, CO)

I like the idea of a table that can “advance” with a person over time, but Linn takes the cake on creating Audiophile Nervosa. Suspended, modular, finicky, they’ve been around forever, so the available used components are all over the place in price. No thank you. I love the AR and Thorens they were inspired by though.
