Interscope Vinyl Collective

@MikeH look what they're listing on this month's.

This is one of the albums I've been the most excited they've announced. But looks like they're going to try filling that VMP void a bit better maybe. I mean not with this engineer and plant, but knowing is half the battle.

Iirc Seitz is Pearl Jam’s preferred engineer. VMP had his cut Yield which was the first record they pressed at their plant record that led to their downfall

None of their albums have sounded amazing on wax to me. But I didn't hear that Yield pressing, so maybe I'm wrong.

For IVC18, we are proud to present Elastica IVC Edition!

The mid-1990s saw no shortage of era-defining British rock bands that sneered and jangled their way through America. Inspired by their favorite punk and New Wave bands like the Stranglers and Wire, Elastica burned quickly yet brightly, becoming an MTV staple in 1995 with their self-titled debut and its lead single “Connection.”

While that song, with its indelible guitar riff and earworm vocal melody, remains an album highlight, it’s one of many hook-laden tracks that makes the album a defining monument of the Britpop era. “Car Song” is the best track about sex in the backseat since Grand Funk Railroad’s “Mr. Limousine Driver,” while Debut single “Stutter” takes on male impotence with unforgiving honesty and a curled lip.

“Ultimately, everything we do is always going to be defined by our [punk-pop] aesthetic,” perpetually cool frontwoman Justine Frischmann told Rolling Stone in 1996. The album remains a critical favorite, with Allmusic noting that “what makes Elastica such an intoxicating record is not only the way the 16 songs speed by in 40 minutes, but that they're nearly all classics.”

Levi is quite good actually! He did some Metallica cuts that are awesome. That Chris Isaak Heart Shaped World is solid from what i remember too.

Don’t know this album so I’ll have to check it out.

edit: Levi and RTI is better than generic GZ or Kevin reeves which they have done in the past

I agree it's better, but I've had good and bad with both. I want consistent, but I'm happy they're telling us now. I told them several times that was what I wanted to see.

Cross posted from the preorder thread:

So how does sign up work to get this one? I don’t want the March record. Do I wait to April 1 or will I get this if I subscribe now?

How would I go about getting Elastica and Toadies? Sign up April 1st for elastica and then I'd be able to buy Toadies? I don't understand how this club works.

The Toadies is not a Interscope Vinyl Collective exclusive, subscribers just get first crack at it tomorrow. Should be available afterwards on the regular Interscope store. To get Elastica you will have to sign up on the first of next month.

Got it. That makes sense.

Do they have swaps? Like what if I want my first month to be Mos Def?
