It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

And Spurs have the best looking bench I’ve seen all season. We should be getting a result today with the players returning from injury but I know Dr. Tottenham all too well.

If you turn up to play I think you’ll find a lot of wide open space in the midfield. I can’t see Bruno and Casemiro being effective in covering the ground in there…

Five injured players back, two in the starting XI. Not sure how much they each have in their tank, but the fact that our bench isn't a bunch of 17 year olds is huge for the near future.

Also the extended European campaign off the back of a tournament is definitely showing in injuries right across football. There needs to be less games.
Stretch out the Nations League "seasons" and go back to six UEFA games in the group stage. Get rid of one FIFA window. Voila, you've just chopped off ten games from the best players.

The nations league just replaced international friendlies match for match so that isn’t happening.

I’d take the premier league teams out of the football league cup. They left the football league almost 33 years ago now, why are they in their competition.

I swear to god if we don't get three points from this one...

First half was like three nothces below what we can bring intensity-wise. Lots of overly cautious build-up play in the final third, just get balls ina. dangerous spot. Seeing how shit their clearances are and we just refuse to put the backline under pressure.

You could see flashes of the old Spurs again, still feels like they can go up a level or two. I'm sure that comes with more time together and returning to fitness, but was a game I felt still a bit wasteful. Either way, good result.

This is my concern with Milan trying to shop Theo around. A dip in form after increased number of games and clear fatigue and are we really expecting some of these players to not return to the top of their game next season after a summer of rest (assuming they don't pick up serious injuries)?

Tel had a number of opportunities that I think with a bit of experience he will do better with. Excited to have him in the squad!

Your defence was still majorly wobbly though. We’re certified shit on a stick and with a bit of composure could have scored a couple. Garnacho wasted a fair bit.

It's still a piecemeal defense, Udogie and the CBs coming back will help. You could see the role Vicario played in organizing the defense, as more leaders come in it can only improve.
