It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

You’ve got to get on the “That Peter Crouch Podcast”. It’s hilarious.

Robbie Earle was a decent mid table player. Really solid in midfield for Wimbledon back in the day.

Yea Crouchie is the best! If only Jimmy Bullard was his cohost!

Why are people against a Super League? Because clearly one already exists within the PL and to some extent the other leagues as well. It really is the top 4-6 teams who have the big money and who attract the biggest names including manager and players. I mean if Chelsea poaches Potter, what’s the point?

It’s an emotive topic and I can’t really answer you in the space and time I’m willing to give to it on a place like here but it’s really not hard with a minor bit of Googling to find a plethora of articles elucidating just how bad an idea it is. I’ve not seen a single argument in a favour of it that carries any sway and if it came in I think I’d have to walk away from the sport, I just couldn’t follow that. As bloated and gross as the sport has become it’s not quite that, yet.

Chelsea remain a brutal club to manage in their new era too! It’s difficult to know who they turn to next.
Leipzig also just fire their Coach. Wonder if they will approach Tuchel

Be interesting would he consider that a step down from his last two clubs? Given he’d be dropping from 2 champions league challengers to a team that might finish 2nd when Dortmund have a bad year? Plus their tactics are pretty prescriptive and they are a selling club as a model. But I suppose it does keep him in work because there isn’t a big European job open right now as Poch is discovering.

It would definitely be a step down, but what wouldn't after Chelsea and PSG. That might be a chance to get right back to CL Club. But he might as well just sit back while and See what 1ill happen elsewhere.

I guess. It’s crazy to me that another club can pay a fee to essentially steal another club’s manager during the season while under contract. It seems like self sabotage for the sake of money.

Football has always been an open market though and when windows were brought in for players they weren’t for managers. Brighton are a clever club and by all accounts they knew they had a star on their hands and that he’d eventually move onto a bigger club. They know their place in the food chain, will take the compensation and approach one of the targets they were already eying up in case this happened. Of course they’d rather he stayed!

UEFA. The CL is the biggest and if the power house teams all leave it loses it's glory

Honestly I think UEFA were shitting themselves. It failed because of the backlash in England causing the premier league sides to be pressured into pulling out. Had that not happened I think the super league would be much nearer a reality.

It is absolutely the single most gross money grab imaginable. I kinda instantly lose respect for anyone who tries to mount any argument in favour of it.
