Super soft penalty. I've seen this ref in MLS. He's a douchebag
Agreed, that penalty was so soft. Can't VAR overturn something like that?Super soft penalty. I've seen this ref in MLS. He's a douchebag
VAR can overturn penalties but it was a pen. Ronaldo got the ball and got clipped.Agreed, that penalty was so soft. Can't VAR overturn something like that?
Agreed. And believe it or not, he was one of the better refs in MLS. It's not saying much!Super soft penalty. I've seen this ref in MLS. He's a douchebag
Agree to disagree. I saw a lot of shoulder to shoulder and Ronaldo going down way too easily.VAR can overturn penalties but it was a pen. Ronaldo got the ball and got clipped.

douchebag
Yeah, that's what I meant to say.VAR can’t actually overturn anything. The principle is that the referee referees the game. If VAR feel he has made a clear and obvious error, or confirm with him that he hasn’t seen an incident, they can send him to the screen to review. The decision remains his.
I haven’t seen it but by the sounds of it while it might be soft there was contact. That makes it subjective, not clear and obvious, and so they’re not supposed to intervene.
I am not a VAR fan by any means (especially when someone is called off side by a shoe lace) but was just curiousVAR can’t actually overturn anything. I agree. That's why I used for this particular chap.Of all the terrible Americanisms that’s the worst. That word just makes me physically wince.
Yeah it seems they’ve set the offside tolerances too high. It was annoyingly like that in the PL too initially but they made the lines thicker and it’s been pretty good since that.
I hate VAR for open play decisions but for offside I actually think it’s a perfect use for it because it’s purely factual.
