It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Is it a red if you take a swipe at the ball when the goalie is holding it?

Depends. It’s like any other foul. If it’s a striker reasonably going in for a potential spill or genuinely going for the ball as the keeper tried to claim it is likely just a foul and no cards unless it’s reckless or nasty. A cheeky one with no danger is a yellow and it you dangerously kick out at a keeper it’s a red.

That’s been coming. We’ve been very good second half, albeit against a poor team.

Cracker from Dalot and if a strike from distance wins it it’s a fitting tribute to one of the purest strikers of a football that the game ever saw.

Not a jinx post, but I’d love to see the Spurs win the league this season. Sure City winning 4 in a row would be a historic feat, but the Spurs winning after Kane shuffled off to Germany in search of a trophy would be epic.

The worry would be squad depth. There isn’t much below the first 11. Not being in Europe will help but to sustain it they may need to forgo cup runs and be very lucky with injuries.

Spurs are a funny one because before Levy they were always a team I had a bit of a soft spot for. Always had good players, always played good football and were never really going up against you for anything. I just really can’t stand that man lol.

I honestly think Arsenal have to answer big questions this year about their mentality if they don’t win it or finish a lot closer in second, especially as city look to have a small post treble hangover.

If Spurs can get to January without any major injuries I think there's a plan to get some better depth in. It is unexpected to be doing so well so soon under Ange however, so I'm positive about this season. Also, if you watched some of the most recent matches vs. Luton and Fulham there were loads of chances that better finishing would score. Richarlison could have had a couple of goals, Kulusevski as well. My point is there's still room to improve, you can see how much better this team can play if they convert some chances better. So Spurs could be underperforming, however, they've allowed a lot of big chances (United, Luton, Fulham, etc.) so having a good GK has been a plus in that regard. Offense could be better but so could defense. A couple of goals go in against Spurs and it's a different story.

Yeah and I think it’s the fact that you’re way ahead of schedule that makes me think, enjoy the exciting football, but it’s not going to be your year unless an extraordinary confluence of events comes together that sees you avoid all injuries and the three teams that are further down the line in their development (City, Arsenal and Liverpool) all have poor years. It’s not impossible, but it’s also probably not likely.

I’d prefer to see spurs win it than any of the three teams I mentioned there.

Liverpool are the team that really worry me as a dark horse. Although they’re also not really all that much a dark horse given their record barring last year. They just have goals everywhere. They can play poorly and still score piles of goals. I really don’t want to have to deal with that again, once every 30 years is enough.
