It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Absolutely insane how one single game is pretty much deciding the league. Has there ever been an instance where two title rivals have played each other on one of the final match days before? Arsenal aren't involved but they're very much a part of it.
I cant ever remember something like this. Of course there have been the Liverpool v City last day dramas....QPR City drama as we reminisced over yesterday but nothing like this...Especially not one team relying on their rival to win it

yeah there's lots of instances where two concurrent games, like BVB and Bayern last season, Liverpool and City back in 2022, United and City back in 2012 like you mentioned, probably a few others on the last match day, but not one single match. And it's very strange one team that the match is impacting the most is not involved at all.

Manchester United were dependent on Liverpool beating a Blackburn side managed by their most legendary figure on the last day of the season. And they did, but we missed a boatload of chances and drew away at West fucking Ham.

On the flip 98/99 we were a point ahead of Arsenal and played Spurs at OT and spurs played really damn well and Les Ferdinand put them ahead, we scraped a 2-1 that day to win the first leg of the treble.

We’ve also won a few titles whilst not playing down the years. Oldham beating Villa and Bolton drawing with Chelsea spring to mind. I think Joe Royle and Sam Allerdyce both got cases of the really good red from Fergie’s cellar off the back of those!

He gets it

Your whole team played really well that day. Sol Campbell was a mountain and Ian Walker, who I always thought was a dodgy keeper, made some blinding saves, a double from Scholes in particular!

I think big Ange is where I’d be at if it was my team in that position. If the commenter below that post is right then spurs really deserve their ongoing lack of success, real small club mentality, worry about yourself, city and Arsenal will take care of themselves.
