The track "The Living Bubba" off this album is about Gregory Dean Smalley, who ran in the same circles as Patterson Hood in the 90s. In '95 Gregory was dying of AIDS and responded by playing as many shows as he could, and leaving it all on stage.

Patterson wrote a great article on him that I suggest you read, then listen to the track:
