Jazz

LA people! Lets do this!
Just wanted to say that I had the pleasure of seeing Archie Shepp play in London last year and it was superb. It wasnt with the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra like this one is (which is such a killer pairing IMO), but it was still a stunning show. He certainly appeared frail when he walked onto the stage, but as soon as he began playing it was clear he was as strong as ever. Superb stuff!

Hey NY area people—I bought tickets to see Ambrose Akinmusire with Tom Harrell and Jack DeJohnette at Lincoln Center in March but now have a bachelor party that weekend...anybody interested in buying the tickets off me? It’s for the show on Friday March 27th at 7PM. If you want more details please let me know! Bummed I’ll have to miss the show!

More Jazz on Mad About Records : SYNCRO JAZZ - "Syncro Jazz Live"

Recorded Live at S. Paulo in 1982 it was originally issued on Amado Maita’s small indie label in the 80s called Poitou. Featuring one of the best Brazilian Sax Players, the legendary Nestico and his sister composer, piano player Lilu.

Nestico joined several Jazz ensembles in São Paulo, having participated in 1977 in the first Jazz festival held at the Municipal Theater, alongside the musicians Samuel (piano), Nilson (bass) and Caram (drums). He performed several times in São Paulo with Syncro Jazz group. In 1982 released with the ensemble the LP “Syncro Jazz - Live”, along with the musicians Lilu Aguiar (piano), Peter Wooley (bass), Vidal (sax and flute), Dagmar (trumpet) and Ronny Machado ( drums).

In the repertoire, the songs “Pro César”, dedicated to pianist César Camargo Mariano, “Winter know” and “Black Cock”, all by Lilu Aguiar, “For Guzi” (Peter Wooley), “Cruzan” (M. Santamaria) and Revelation (S. Fortune). The LP contains amazing Fender Rhodes solos in a Heavy Modal Spiritual and Bossa Jazz a la Strata-East & Black Jazz Records.

Did anyone in the states receive their Wildflower early bird yet?
Still nothing here in Ohio:(

I just got mine yesterday - 220/300. Probably one of the worst packaged records I have ever gotten, but, luckily, it wasn’t warped and it sounds great! It’s a really cool album!! I’m in Maryland so I’d imagine you should be getting yours in the next couple days!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, has anyone seen any good vinyl boxing day deals?

Spiritmuse has 20% off their Bandcamp at the moment, which includes Abdullah Sami - Peace Of Time, with the code 'endofyear2019'.

Ooh. Any recs from their catalogue? I've been eying the J-jazz comps but not familiar with much of their offerings beyond that.

Also seems to be worth noting you need to use coupon code FESTIVE25

Black Saint and Soul Note comp, Mingus box, If Music Presents DeepJazz Comps. Hugh Masekela , J,- Jazz comps and individual J-Jazzalbums ,Ralph Thomas.yeah sorry I forgot to include the code It’s only early here, just woke up 🤓

You can also go with their Tabansi reissues (read here for the full story), starting with Ebo Taylor lost album Palaver, EDIT. If you are into Disco, you can try The Men in the Glass Booth comps too, I have both boxsets that I purchased during French summer sales and there are a few gems on it.

Does anyone know about this bitches brew exclusive through rough trade? is it only available from their physical stores or just online? I actually don't own a copy so if it isn't overpriced I'd like to find this.
