Is there a gym coach running loose at the begining of this? Is this marching band practice?
For those of you who find such things entertaining, the other 1000 recordings book I am reading has lead to me spending a few days with this:View attachment 193601
I'm on Urban Magic now, so not done yet. Would agree it is closer to earth than Tutankhamen, but we are talking like it's out there by Pluto instead of in the next galaxy...How did you like it, It's a much easier listen that Tutankhamen , hopefully you had fun. Fantastic album and sounds great as well, so BONUS !
Ohh now I’m interested.Revelry into some spanish thing with tin whistles and people shouting, it's like the worst mardi gras ever.
I think actually seeing this type of music being made makes it more interesting. You get to see the musicians interact with eachother. You see the variety of ways they use the instruments differently to make the sounds. You see how intensely they concentrate.I'm just not sold on all the squawking, squeaking and hi-jinks in the background. This New York is Full of Lonely People is nice so far, I expect it to devolve into madness any second now.
I had also loaded up Nice Guys which is so pleasant, I had to look to see what it was to find out that it was also Art Ensemble.
I've moved on to the soundtrack to St. Elmo's Fire now, thank you very much!!!Those 3 on ECM are pretty accessible, Nice Guys, The
Third Decade and Full Force, Funky AOEC on The Third Decade might be right up your alley .
Say whaaaaaathyped releases from an article about VMP shared elsewhere:
4. John Coltrane, “A Love Supreme” (VMP Edition)
This single-album release is getting the boxed set treatment with eight discs of material, including the original album, every outtake and alternate take, and two live performances of the original album’s tracklist. Physical booklets include original photo outtakes, a screen-printed poster, liner notes by music writer Jeff Weiss and original designs by senior art director Alan Hynes and art director Clay Conder.
“Our hope is that this pays fitting tribute to a legendary album, opening up new angles to explore for Coltrane aficionados, and providing a definitive collection for those looking to explore,” Winistorfer said.
Don't have a copy of A Love Supreme yet?Say whaaaaaat
I do indeed, more copies than I care to admitDon't have a copy of A Love Supreme yet?
Gold embossed logo?I do indeed, more copies than I care to admit
Still, I’m interested to see what they do with this that’s different to all the others out there.
