Funnily enough, I just bought a Lateef record yesterday that ive been after for ages (I actually think it was one of the first jazz records I actively looked for after I started deep diving into jazz).

Against my better judgement, I resubbed for 1 month to grab the Art Blakey so I might buy the Eastern Sounds record as well while I have the free shipping. I found an eBay seller years ago that was selling bundles of Yusef and Pharoah Sanders and managed to snag a bunch from them for really cheap. But I have never seen a copy of Eastern Sounds for sale for a decent price. Which Lateef record did ya get?

Sweet! I’m going to pick it up as well. Any idea when it’s going to be available to buy? Tomorrow?

Prayer to the East. There’s a track lateef wrote on there called ‘Endura’ and it blows my mind.

The OJC is digitally mastered, I believe. It has the markings of what people believe to be the digitally mastered ones (barcode on back cover, small circle indent around spindle).

I was actually looking at Eastern Sounds just yesterday. Only copies that were affordable are the OJCs from 1991 and 2018. I think this one might be worth the gamble if it's being pressed at RTI.

Btw, the reviews on discogs for the OJC versions are pretty positive, if that is anything to go on.

I've never bought an OJC that sounded bad. I'd have jumped on that one that MikeH linked in a second, but I've spent an INSANE amount on records in the last two weeks and need to draw the line somewhere.

I'm guessing tomorrow at noon EST is the on-sale date. I think I'm going to have to grab a copy of this one...and Prayer To The East is an awesome album. Great pick up!

I hear ya...I had too much free time this past weekend for the first time in a long time and went on a bit of a record buying binge...kept seeing things for good deals and then when I looked back at how much I purchased, I just stopped looking at ebay and local stores haha. It almost got to the point that I forgot what I had purchased and which ebay bids I had won.

I'm doing a 30 day free trial of Roon and Qobuz though and am quite liking it, so if I decide to keep those, I'm going to seriously cut down on the vinyl purchasing. So far, Roon and Qobuz are pretty awesome...

A while back I bought an original mono pressing of Duke Ellington & John Coltrane on Impulse! (A-30). Its a superb album and stripped back from Ellingtons regular big band (I think theres only 6-7 musicians in total on the whole album including Ellington and Coltrane) which allows you to really appreciate his playing. The reason I mention the album is because it turns out the mono pressing is really rare. There average sale price on discogs is £50 and theres only 1 for sale at £246. Well, I was just browsing eBay and theres one up for bids, and is currently at £25 - although shipping is a killer. Im watching it as im intrigued to see what it goes for.

I was recently listening to this obscure avant-garde record by a dutch guitarist called Pierre Dorge with Walt Dickerson and its so good!

Yep! Saw it on DJ Pari's instagram. Found the YouTube link and immediately downloaded the FLAC of it since it seems like vinyl issues are a bit hard to come by online right now. The guy posts some insanely great stuff and mostly original pressings...and supposedly almost never buys online so I don't know how he does it!

Yeah his collection is crazy, have you seen his wall of records? Madness. Plus he didnt even start out collecting jazz, he went for funk and soul. Hes a really cool dude, we've messaged back and forth a few times on instagram and hes given me a few great recommendations in the past.
