And volume 2 is in the shop ;)

Hey fellow jazz-heads. You may remember I shared with you the news of a Mexico City band signing to Ropeadope a couple of months ago. They just released the first single off their upcoming album, along with a live session video:

I'm obviously biased, as I've followed this guys for some time now and want to see them thrive, but I think the kind of jazz they are playing is very exciting and unique. Give it a try and let me know what you think ;)

I popped into Rough Trade this morning and picked up the records I wanted. Its was a horrible experience, which I wont be doing again (this was the first time I have gone in the morning). Anyway, managed to pick up:

Bill Evans - Live at Art D’lugoff’s. Hefty price but I missed out on his Live in England release and was gutted. This looks to be a great, high-quality set.

The Comet is Coming - Afterlife. I wasnt actually expecting to see this and was happy to wait (@Skalap mentioned it will get a wider release at some point) but luckily it was the last one so I snagged it.

Miles Davis - Early Minor: Rare Miles From The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions. I pulled this out and wanted to read through but a staff member told me I wasnt allowed to stand at the side to look at it (which is a weird thing to say). Anyway, the queue was long enough that I was able to properly read and it seems like an interesting selection. Might end up passing it onto my brother so that he can pay for it and give it to me for Christmas

Also ordered the Miles Davis - Miles In Tokyo: Miles Davis Live In Concert which will also be passed on to be gifted......back to me 🤣

Nice haul @Selaws and hat's off for braving Rough Trade at peak time on RSD. I did the same a few years ago and pretty much vowed to never again just because the whole thing wasn't that fun an experience. I think my most successful and stress free hauls have come by just wandering into SOTU by chance if I'm in the area.
I showed massive restraint this time around, no purchases but I'll probably end up pulling the trigger on the Moses Boyd pre order!

I was naive on this one. I have never gone into a record store on black friday before and honestly thought 'oh I will just pop in on the way to work'......definitely didnt expect it to be that chaotic :ROFLMAO:

Got a copy of the Bill Evans online at Soul Brother in London. If anyone is still trying to find a copy they still have some in stock

they still have some in Rough Trade as well.

anybody get to listen to Direct Step? Is it good? Does it sound good?

I’m interested in how that Herbie one sounds too. I’m assuming Get On Down did not cut from the original metal work even though it states D2D on the OBI strip.

I also impulse bought the Johnny Griffin and Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis set. Didn’t know something like that was even coming out until I stumbled across it online browsing yesterday. Anyone have that one and want to share how it sounds?

$15,99?! I've seen it listed up to 30€ here on Europe :(
Thats insane, it was £24 at Rough Trade (and I thought they were expensive). I did see that Shabaka Hutchings commented on their instagram post saying it will be available from next week on their tour. Im seeing them on Thursday so I will see what they have it priced at.

don't think I've seen this posted, anyone got it ? @Mr Moore perhaps

I do have it, real good. I ordered his latest too from Org last week, still making it’s way over the ocean but looking forward to this one too.

Hey @Mr Moore im just looking at the Discogs credits and it only has credit to Booker. Is it a solo project or are there sidemen involved? I cant load the photos at the moment otherwise I would zoom in on the info there.

Did you find the new one on discogs? I can’t find it anywhere.

I’ve only had a quick scan through the Spotify version and it sounds like there’s at least piano on there too.

My bad, it was the ‘...Is Eternal Life’ I was looking at. Have managed to bring up a photo of the jacket now and it’s strange as it has a list of musicians on it (doesn’t say what they played) but the actual Discogs info only has Hooker credited. I will stream it a ton work tomorrow anyway, looks interesting.
