DAY 26: IT’S NOT ABOUT WHO DID IT FIRST BUT WHO DID IT BETTER
This one was a no brainer for me...
Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul
Isaac’s renditions of both “Walk on By” and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” are two of the greatest songs of all time! Not just among cover songs, but just... songs, period!

Thanks again, I was super happy to add his first album to my collection.
Additionally, it was @David A. that made a comment (wayyy back on the old forum) that Love & Hate was among his albums of the year, that year it came out. I didn't know Michael Kiwanuka's music at the time, so that prompted my first foray into MK.
I haven't seen him around this forum much, I hope all is well.
Day 27: SHARING IS CARING

I have discovered lots of wonderful and interesting music because of you all. Thank you. This one was introduced to me over in the preorder thread by @eatdogs and have really enjoyed it. Nice hazy shoegaze from the UK.
I got this during the N&G Secret Santa last year. Whoever you are Santa thank you so much! So glad to have this thanks to you! All three records you gave me mean a lot!
I’ve had quite the day so not my usual early start. I haven’t looked to see if I am duping, either. If I am then I invoke the power of vacation stress forced car shopping trauma to override whomever needs it.
This pick was shared to multiple formers by @scotthilk and I got in on a late PIF. USPS totally wrecked the cover but the vinyl survived. Scott went to great lengths to try source a replacement cover to no avail but credit is due. It’s a great band from Boston, a city I love, and the music is great.

SHARING IS CARING

Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
This was a few years ago but this was a Secret Santa gift from (90% sure, it's been a while away from The Forum That Shall Not Be Named) @folsom_lives. Unbeknownst to my Santa at the time, I had wanted a copy of this for a while but like so many jazz pressings, I was paralyzed by the paradox of choice. My Santa must have known that the Superior Viaduct pressing sounds great, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great value on a great album.

IT'S NOT ABOUT WHO DID IT FIRST, BUT WHO DID IT BETTER
Play an album with a great cover song/songs on it
Aretha Franklin - Aretha Now
The absolute queen of taking songs from all time greats and owning them in perpetuity.
Sometimes theft is an artform. More so when Aretha does it than when I steal an entire post from @sahomerrocks about Aretha being an artiste at stealing songs from all-time greats.
Also, I know @Wicked Dreamer played this album as soon as yesterday ago, but he did it for the Short Albums category. I've taken a close look at the Official Rules and have deemed myself cleared of all charges of plagiarism on both counts. If you have any further inquiries please address them to my lawyer, Mr. Breakfast Stout attorney at law.
I personally describe this voice as “perfume pillows” because it sounds like the smell of an absent lover’s perfume lingering on the pillow. Aussie women lately have been putting forth some solid winners and Julia is in the front of the pack. Runner up should be Annie Hamilton but no vinyl currently available.

I'D RECOGNIZE THAT VOICE ANYWHERE
Play an album by an artist with a unique voice
The National - Alligator
Matt Berninger has one of the most distinctive voices in music today. For some it might be an acquired taste but I am all in for his rich, baritone sounds.
