Again, this is why we need to take all of this stuff with a grain of salt. Meaning, I got the Archo first, then swapped out the feet and added the damper last. Not to mention, our chains, cart and so on are a bit different.That was worth a chuckle! I'm not convinced yet that I need any mat upgrade. Just got the KAB damper to install today - one upgrade at a time to see how things shake out. The PLX-1000 rubber mat is a static generator in the winter, which does give me pause.
I'd heard good things about the Herbie's on the VPI Traveler (since the OEM mat is junk), but my el-cheapo Sleeve City "carbon fiber" mat on there does a good job controlling static, which I really like about it.
So, sharing opinions on things is great and has a tendency to weed out the absolutely atrocious more than anything which is most important in my opinion, after that, there is so much personal preference and so on to ever see one thing as the absolute solution. To your point of giving each "upgrade" time, spot on, doing too many things at one time will just frustrate you in the end
