3.5 STARS TO CITIZEN KANE? BAMBI HAS 4.5? Madness.

It took the 3rd time watching it throughout my life to actually stay awake through it all. 3.5 stars is a pretty good score, though. And Bambi is probably my favorite Disney movie. Lion King and Toy Story probably right up there with it.

I always enjoyed the “lesser” Disney animation movies. The ones that came out during that period in the 70s and 80s after the Jungle Book but before their 90s renaissance with The Little Mermaid. I’d take Robinhood, The Rescuers, and The Black Cauldron over Snow White, Bambi, and Dumbo any day.

This is true now, but I think it was less true in the 50s. I think there are plenty of other factors that led to our societal ills between then and now other than 101 Dalmations.

Slightly off topic but why do we need a movie about Cruella DeVille? Like can’t the woman who wants to skins puppies to a make fur coat just be evil? Do we really need an origins story explaining her evilness?
