Very much enjoyed Mickey 17. The first and final 1/4th aren't as strong as the middle 1/2 and, yes, 10 mins or so probably could have been cut from those sections.

But:
A) Patterson (who I've never understood the buzz on) is riveting
B) Ruffalo is hilarious
C) It's a bizarre and captivating ride that never feels predictable
D) The creatures are great

I've seen 7/8 of Bong's films (havent seen Barking Dogs) and I might put it in the top 1/2, just ahead of Okja.

I'd encourage everyone to go see it before it leaves theaters. Right now it's on pace to lose major $ which would be a huge bummer in a world where not enough original cinema is given a big budget.

THE CREATURES RULE

90s Essentials rewatch with the wife and oldest. I remember watching this in the theater and realizing it was all about to change for Nicole Kidman. Awesome supporting cast with two future Best Actor winners in a young Casey Affleck and a young Joaquin Phoenix.

I know it came several years after this, but thinking about a younger Casey Affleck makes me want to rewatch The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford. It's still one of the best landscape films I've ever seen on the big screen.

Roger Deakins shot that and No Country for Old Men, both released the same year and both look incredible.

i think i have an irrational ptsd from being incessantly subjected to don henley’s ‘dirty laundry’ song that was all over the marketing for this.

Kick em when your up, kick em when your down!

My love of The War On Drugs has led to an odd appreciation for a lot of Don Henley’s solo work.
