I don’t recall any of those bands announcing a hiatus though. They just did a farewell tour and then said aww fuck it a few years later.

The hiatus is a bit more honest maybe but I guess a band wouldn’t have to announce such things they could just stop making music and touring but it does give fans the opportunity to see knowing it could like be some time before they get the opportunity again.

A farewell should be “we’re done.” A hiatus is “we’ll see you later.”
