Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 14 - August 2020 /// Fugazi - In on the Kill Taker

Sorry guessers, took a day off the forum yesterday.

Second week of the thread, so I’m going to start tying all of the clues up. Think of the first week as laying the groundwork.

With this in mind, here’s a couple of clues:

1) This album was not produced by Steve Albini;
2) This album has had a Max Richter style reimagining;
3) My vinyl copy of the album turned up yesterday.
Is it the 25th anniversary version of REM Monster that has the second lp remixes on?

I have to throw a guess in there....

Apocalyptica ‎– Plays Metallica By Four Cellos

it surely it's almost impossible to fit (most of) the clues with this, but it's within the right decade and it's a reinterpretation of other people music.
it seems available also

but, what the hell do I know!

following the reinterpretation clue, I was hoping in either Akasha-Cinematique or The Cinematic Orchestra.....
but vinyl for both are almost impossible to find....

Remember, the clue is that the album has been reinterpreted, so are you really suggesting Metallica’s Black Album?

One of the clues was that the album wasn’t recorded/produced by Steve Albini wasn’t it?

The band was unhappy with the Albini recording and re-recorded it with Zientara and Niceley. I don't think the Albini version was released. I haven't found a connection with Jason Lee or Beckham yet, but the album is available on Amazon. And the album is listed on Thackeraye's Discogs, but only the CD.

EDIT:I think I've made other connections: Jason Lee played Syndrome in the Incredibles and there is a song named Walken's Syndrome; a song named Rend It for Bend It Like Beckham; a song named Good Cop for Columbo.

Are you a secret Linkin Park / Jay-Z fan and will be hitting us up with Collision Course? Or even Reanimation?
No. Linkin Park was around the time I stepped away from “metal” for a bit. They supported the Deftones when I saw them, and we purposefully got there late to avoid them. Unfortunately, the gig still ended up in my top 5 worst gigs ever.
