Ashley who runs the site is a good cat, and I've been seriously tempted by this one. He's shutting down shop and moving back to England next week, so everything must go!

Bob and Jack Kidney were on a local radio show/podcast if anyone's interested in some stories about the old days. Part 1 up now.

The TRUE lost Jimmy Bell tracks June 16, 1975 Cleveland Agora

Ok so here is what I mean by the TRUE lost Jimmy Bell tracks. So as we all know the Jimmy Bell album was recorded at the Cleveland Agora on June 16, 1975 when the band was opening for Bob Marley and the Wailers. What I didn't know until just recently is that the actual Jimmy Bell album isn't the entire set from that night. The actual released album starts at the third song performed which was "Animal Speaks" and then runs through to the end of the set.

We only just recently got the full master mix down from that actual night at the Agora and I was stunned to hear both "Stolen Cadillac" and "Drive" at the front of the recording. When I talked to Bob about it he did remember that there were some songs cut out but this was the first that I had heard or even heard of any of this.

Anyway right now and right here is the FIRST time these tracks can be heard by anyone. I actually included the first three so you can hear how the show slid into the version of "Animal Speaks" that we all know and love.

Also just for clarity --
back in 2014 when the band re-released the Jimmy Bell album with bonus tracks - those bonus tracks were from a different night at the Cleveland Agora than the actual Jimmy Bell recording night. Those bonus tracks were sourced from this recording.

But what is presented here is the first time these tracks have been heard in public in any way and they are authentically from the actual night the Jimmy Bell album was recorded.

By June 1975 "Stolen Cadillac" was probably considered last eras favorite, which is why it served as an opener. While this isn't the greatest version ever, you can hear the gears start kicking in mid-way through leading to the incredible X factor that would become this album. "Drive" on the other hand is just as potent as anything else on the Jimmy Bell album and it leads the way to what comes next....

Thanks for posting this, D. That version of Drive is killer!

I think part 2 of the "From Akron and Beyond" podcast with Bob and gang was recorded recently. Looking forward to listening to that when it drops.
