Gonna throw out some bad guesses
Radiohead - Kid A (rwb album, some suggested it predicted 9/11 attacks)
Flaming Lips - At War with the Mystics (colors in album, wizard named song, politically charged album)
Tom Petty - Highway Companion (colors on album cover, American record label, self proclaimed marijuana enthusiast/pushed for legalization)
All are after 94, and are not really metal, but all hit the rock genre. Probably fodder for the not it section, but it's fun sleuthing!
 
NOTE: The albums in here are based off the clues that they are an American Band, they were released after July 1, and they have red, white, and blue on the cover. A LOT of these are probably wrong but I am just trying to get guesses in here...

I'm just gonna place a bunch of albums released after July 1, 1994 that can be considered alternative rock or hard rock:

Savatage - Handful of Rain
Tesla - Bust A Nut
Luscious Jackson - Natural Ingredients
Rubberneck - Toadies???? debatable...
Without A Sound - Dinosaur Jr.
Sugar - File Under Easy Listening
They Might Be Giants - John Henry
Testament - Low
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Question the Answers
Bad Religion - Stranger than Fiction??? Debatable...

If someone is a die-hard ska fan, I encourage them to pick a ska record and let the haters be damned when their turn is up. I love giving things that are out of my wheelhouse the old college try.

Testament would be cool just cause I like Dave McKean’s art. My record collection should look more like my Sandman collection...
 
I’m guessing Baroness. They have a Red and Blue album but the one that contains both Colours is their most recent, Gold & Grey. All their albums have critical acclaim, an American band, and lead singer John Dyer Baizley is famous for creating the art for their releases (and others such as my nice Gillian Welch albums) has he maybe made a piece of art for a showing of Wizards?

It’s as good a guess as any and it’s a band I really dig. Also, I really appreciate you doing such a great job with tracking the guesses. If this ever becomes too much I’m happy to take over! Anything I can do to lessen the burden as I clearly overestimated my clue giving abilities until now.

Thanks for the offer, i’m not as good as @Skalap was at keeping order last month but i’m Happy to play my part. Next month you get the fun of keeping track and that’s more than enough. Also we’re still pretty early into the month. I remember thinking no one would guess mine and when @Joe Mac actually got it I was so proud of our forum I shouted YES THEY GOT IT out loud. Looking forward to you getting that reaction too. Any idea of an announcement date btw?

By run do you mean start the thread or do you mean manage the guesses.

Just so there is no confusion that you post the first post so you can post your liner notes and hints and goat will do the hints

Also it will be interesting to go from metal to pop music in one month

I start the thread, @Goatfish takes the next few posts for guess keeping purposes and then we're off to the races! I so very much appreciate knowing that you have my back, Dukey. I am serious. I know you are not going to let me royally screw this up, as I am wont to do.

And you keep saying my month is going to be pop. This may or may not be a foregone conclusion. :unsure:
