Ok i’ll ask you another question. Undoubtedly Dio is the voice and personification of metal. What’s his best album?
a) Rainbow Rising
b) Heaven and Hell
c) Mob Rules
d) Holy Diver
e) Last In Line
f) Dehumanizer
Good point. I think this would rule out any 2019 albums. I think that Baroness was the only one on the current list that is though. This one seems that it would rule out Gold & Grey
These are all excellent choices, but b) is where Ronnie proved his greatness, so that's my pick.
I wasn’t meaning to imply that Lemmy is/was the personification of metal, just that he fills that role more so for me than Ronnie. But I’m not a Dio fan so that plays into it I’m sure. I respect what he did for the genre I just prefer Ozzy/Sabbath.I love Lemmy. But I think even he just saw himself as ‘Rock & Roll’, extending on from Gene Vincent, Hendrix, etc. Dio gave us the devil horn hand gesture for goodness sake
Heaven and Hell is the arguably the best Black Sabbath album. And I love Ozzy and think all 6 of that first run are 5 star classics. You win tonight’s prize, a sense of superiority over lesser mortals.
I agree that Heaven and Hell is arguably the best Dio fronted Sabbath album...
I was going to ask you what Baroness album I should buy first seeing they are out of the running. But if this is how our Lord and Saviour Ronnie gets treated around these parts I won’t bother.
I’m just poking fun! I have no problem with Dio, just not my cup of tea.I was going to ask you what Baroness album I should buy first seeing they are out of the running. But if this is how our Lord and Saviour Ronnie gets treated around these parts I won’t bother.
I respect and admire Ronnie. RIP
Baroness - Blue is IMO the best starting point

Blue it is then. If it’s anything like Blue by Joni Mitchell or Blue by Simply Red i’m Sure i’ll Love it.
Blue = Red > Yellow & Green > Gold & Grey > PurpleI was going to ask you what Baroness album I should buy first seeing they are out of the running. But if this is how our Lord and Saviour Ronnie gets treated around these parts I won’t bother.
Blue = Red > Yellow & Green > Gold & Grey > Purple
Haven't listened to their pre-Red stuff enough.
Agreed with that for sure. On Green I just love "Mtns." and "Stretchmarker."5. Green (I split them because Yellow is so much above Green for me)
Also, don’t sleep on the First & Second EP’s either (you can actually find them as an Single LP). I would actually stick those up with Red & Blue as far as their best releases go. It’s more raw and a bit more rawkus than their later releases. It really kinda depends on your mood.Blue = Red > Yellow & Green > Gold & Grey > Purple
