Probably in a tie with Midnight Blue for my all time favourite Blue Note album:
Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else LP (Blue Note Classic Vinyl Editi - Blue Note Records
“Is that what you wanted, Alfred?” we hear in Miles Davis’ unmistakable rasp at the end of “One for Daddy-O,” making it clear that the legendary (and assertive) trumpeter was not just playing the role of sideman on Somethin’ Else, the sole Blue Note album by Cannonball Adderley. If you wanna stick with guitar jazz, this is a great choice:
Grant Green - Idle Moments LP (Blue Note Class Vinyl Series) - Blue Note Records
Time and troubles seem to melt away during the 15 enrapturing minutes of Idle Moments, the opening track of Grant Green’s sublime 1963 album of the same name. As the piece unhurriedly unfurls all the unique colors of the ensemble present themselves with Green’s soulful guitar joined by Duke...store.bluenote.com

From the choices above, Somethin' Else is probably the easiest to get into. If you don't like it, I'll doubt you'll ever really get into Jazz (maybe I'm being a bit too pessimistic there).thanks for the choices.. i have actually heard moanin and it had a good mood but wasn't really winning me over as someone who kinda is not the normal jazz listener (but for an ROTM i will be willing to try out something different)..
i might just accept acoustic sounds 10 dollar ground shipping... or worse.. amazon shipping
