Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Our IKEA store is officially closing for at least two weeks. We should continue to get paid.

My wife was supposed to be off since they closed down her kitchen but since she works for a coffee chain that also sells maIl order subscriptions, those sales are increasing so she's currently still going in to help pack and get those orders ready.

no idea if this would be only once/monthly/quarterly? but it's a step in the right direction for universal basic income

Update

Hoping there will be way to do direct deposit, although I am not optimistic.

If not I'll just deposit it through my mobile app. My current bank hasn't limited me in anyway yet with this. I have deposited a $1500 check before without issue.

5 years ago the bank I had would not allow checks greater than $500 to be deposited via their app. Cited it was that was the limit that's federally insured.

Great that's another thing I'm going to have to teach my boomer parents how to do.

With my dad this used to always end, after an infuriatingly long time, with me shouting “will you just let me book the fucking flights for you!” His wife is, thankfully, pretty tech savvy so I’ve been relieved of that duty.

And most around here have ATMs you can access on the outside even if the bank is closed. Some are even drive-through.

Hell to the no to ATM's with my bank. They still require you to fill out the deposit slip with a pen and put everything in an envelope.

I'm not touching that pen let alone the keys everyone presses to enter their pin.

Edit: Last time I made a ATM deposit they had no pen, I had no pen. And my deposit got reversed for a few days while they did the accounting to match me deposit with a transaction. I forget exactly what it was listed on my bank account activity, but it was scary looking and implied my deposit was missing / didn't contain money.

most NYers don't like our mayor, but he's 100% right about this... it's fucking disgraceful how the wealthy are given top priority

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio criticizes "wealthy" NBA teams for coronavirus tests

"We wish them a speedy recovery. But, with all due respect, an entire NBA team should NOT get tested for COVID-19 while there are critically ill patients waiting to be tested. Tests should not be for the wealthy, but for the sick."

When Trump was asked about wealthy people buying respirations for personal use / treatment he responded with such is life. Things like this happen from time to time and shrugged it off.

There is one respirator company that said they are receiving many calls from wealthy individuals looking to buy a portable respiration, and said they are denying their requests. So that's good. But not all respiration manufacturers are doing that.

So the reality of it, we have the wealthy preparing by buying respirators just in case that hospitals desperately need now.
