New England!

Dang it! Why do I always hear about great places just as they go under?! I'll have to rush to see how good he is!

This isn't really news once it reaches me, but: a local legend named Brother Cleve passed away unexpectedly last year. I knew more as the elder statesmen in Boston's cocktail scene, but knew he had played in a bunch of local bands over the years.

Well, apparently he had a pretty extensive and eclectic record collection that is on sale at a store in Newton (want list records).

Hey New Englanders! I'm relocating from D.C. to Boston in a couple weeks. Where are the best Hi-Fi shops and record stores in and around the city? Any tips would be fantastic. Thanks!

Some shops I like are: Music Research Library (near the Park St stop), Vinyl Index (Somerville, in a neat little shopping area if you were looking for stupid gifts to buy folks), Good Taste Records (never been, but bought from them online), Tres Gatos (more of a tapas bar than anything, but there's a small music/book shop in the back--food and drinks are killer and JP is fun), Deep Thoughts (in Jamaica Plain but moving soon to Western Mass). Heard good things about Wanna Heart It and Want List Records in Watertown. There are other shops that have been around forever that'll show up in any google searches but these are some off the beaten path recs I think would be worth a trip.

Thanks so much, this is great!
