New Music Friday!

Didn't listen to a lot the past week, left revaluating thoughts on favorites from this quarter (overall not as strong). Just a few here.

🔥
  • Arthur Russell - Picture of Bunny Rabbit (archival) [absolutely amazing. The same vein as the groundbreaking World of Echo. A genius gone too soon]
👍
  • Swans - The Beggar [just like with Squid earlier in the month...I'm left feeling broken. Why, you ask? It should have been in the tops for the week given the RYM hype and in general; Swans are one of my top50 artists. It is enjoyable, but the tracks often do not sport the epic payoffs you would expect from this reunion era found in the group's prior works. I don't know how often I will return to The Beggar compared to The Seer, To Be Kind, or The Glowing Man. Maybe my opinion will turn in a live setting. But for now, I'm just whelmed]
🤷‍♂️
  • Queens Of The Stone Age - In Times New Roman... [it's just another QotSA record. Fine, but not really needed. Some of these tracks have bland production, especially early on in the tracklist. I do like the 9min closing cut. But not overly impressive]
👎
  • Kim Petras - Feed the Beast [not as cringe as Slut Pop was, but this did not change my opinion of her being on a downslide. Clarity seems like eons ago]
🤮
  • Sleep Token - Take Me Back to Eden [among the worst albums I've heard in my life. Yes, that bad. Reminds me a lot like Falling in Reverse]

Second opinion: Greg Foat x Gigi Masin - Dolphin 👍➡️🔥 [really, I shouldn't ever doubt Gigi; he's also one of my top50 all time]
