personally, not a fan:
The singles are actually quite good. Shiny Happy people is pretty bearableI don't have high expectations, but I'm definitely VERY curious.
Just imagine this, in an alternate universe, Neil Young got the role and releases this E.P. In the twilight of his career. Maybe in that one, Micky is one of our greatest songwriters. The fake drummer of the Monkees has an EP of him singing R.E.M. covers?
We live in wild times.
Is it out now? This Budgie x Lol Tolhurst x Jacknife Lee album is pretty freaking great. With guest spots by James Murphy, Bobby Gillespie, The Edge, Isaac Brock, and others.
Yeah listened on Apple Music this morning. Is it out now?
That Hotline TNT is exactly what I was hoping it would beHotline TNT, Drop Nineteens, and Bar Italia on the docket for today!
yeah, loving this one. That Hotline TNT is exactly what I was hoping it would be
you know, I think I'm done with this band. they didn't do anything wrong, but I see so much hype from them in indie circles and I just don't get it. they're "mid" at best. It's not exciting at all. songs are all mid-tempo, sung lazily, boring melodies. I just don't get it.Bar Italia
Yeah, I'm a big shoegaze fan and I'm loving the revival. I've been very excited for this Hotline TNT since I heard the first single. For me, this album is scratching a nostalgic itch of like grunge/shoegaze, or something like that. I can't put my finger on it, but it feels very 90s in a certain way. I wasn't even a big fan of grunge, but this seems to have extracted some wonderful elements of it and mixed with shoegaze. It's also very possible I'm not making sense. There’s tons of newer Shoegaze bands that are only partially Shoegaze on a couple of songs here and there. Every time I listen I think that maybe it’ll finally scratch the itch. This whole album is good throughout.

yeah I've been on the prowl for more bands that scratch that itch. I get so disappointed when bands, while good, are touted as shoegaze but just scratch the surface *cough*Wednesday*cough* *cough*TAGBOW*cough*.Yeah, I'm a big shoegaze fan and I'm loving the revival. Also, the thing that has really blown me away is the international spread of shoegaze. I regularly listen to South Korean and Chinese bands now.

I got waaaaaaay back into Siamese Dream this summer because there's really nothing much else like it. The shoegazey guitar on that album is just next level.
I discovered this playlist a while back, maybe from Reddit? That someone updates regularly with HEAVY shoegaze. I'll check it out every so often to find something new
semi-related but have you heard Animal Ghosts?
I've seen some articles and stuff label them as shoegaze a lot. Only a couple of songs off their new album fit the bill slightly. This one from their 2021 album is pure shoegaze bliss IMO. But then, it's really the only song on that album that sounds shoegaaze. It's just a nice one-off.I don't know Animal Ghosts, so I'm psyched to check them out, thanks! I hear you on the labelling things shoegaze that aren't, it is annoying. I wouldn't never have thought of Wednesday as shoegaze. Maybe because it's gaining momentum, people are throwing the label around whenever they hear a second or two of reverb.
If we're in the sharing mode, one of my favorite shoegaze album of the year is BrokenTeeth's How to Sink Slowly (link is to spotify if you use it). They are South Korean.
