New Music Friday!

A little disappointed by the new M83. I can't remember what I read but I was expecting Junk but inspired by 80s video game soundtracks rather than TV soundtracks. But this is all instrumental and more like his older stuff, it's well produced and all, nothing wrong with it really, I just really liked Junk.

Kind of an oddball one I'm listening to today. The Number Twelve Looks Like You have a new album out today. I haven't listened to this band since their album Mongerel came out in 2007. If you like screamo/hardcore/metal/mathcore all crammed into one band with a lot of odd time changes and style shifts, check this one out!

DSVII is primarily influenced by vintage video game music and 80's sci-fi/fantasy films such as 'The Never Ending Story'. Anthony Gonzalez even lists a number of references for the album, including work by Brian Eno, Mort Garson, Suzanne Ciani and John Carpenter, alongside video scores, such as Final Fantasy (Nobuo Uematsu), Dragon Quest (Koichi Sugiyami) and The Legend of Zelda (Koji Kondo). The album, the sequel to Digital Shades Vol. 1 (2007), is an expansive down-tempo atmospheric journey that evokes childhood memories of fantasy reverie. 🕹🧚‍♀️📽🧙‍♂️

So far today for me

Sturgill Simpson - Definitely will be a grower for me. Dirty, gritty rock with a twang
New Pornographers - Really great and on par with their best IMO
Temples - Big step forward for them. Ditching the sleepier songs from previous albums in favor of hook driven groovy psych rock.
