New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

My fan has stopped working. Anybody else have that problem? I guess I've cleaned 2500 records so I can't complain.

PS Customer service closed for the next week. Grr. I'm travelling for many weeks after that and had just got in a real groove. Dog will be happy at least...

It's great that at least the CS is responsive (when open) and not overly expensive for spare parts for repair, but I've been thinking about it in terms of cost per use. Assuming it can get through 2500 records before shitting the bed, at current prices, that works out to about 18¢ per clean. Not too shabby, even if I would like it to be more robust and reliable.

With the time difference it did take a few days to get things diagnosed for me but that wasn’t their fault at all. By the time I had a chance to send them videos they requested they were closed for the day already.

I pull out that filter after every cleaning session and I honestly don't think there's ever been anything to clean out of it. Having said that, it may be relevant that I have developed my own filtering system for moving the water from tank to reservoir after each record has been cleaned/dried, so it is possible less gunk is going through that filter at the bottom of the reservoir.

But the same is true for the air filter at the very bottom-right of the unit that I assume is related to the fan. I've pulled it out a few times, but there's never anything to clean from it.
I pulled the bottom basin filter for the first time today after more than a year of use. The filter had some fibers/hairs in it, but was not blocked. I’ll probably just check it occasionally.

@Joe Mac what do you think of this statement? 😮

The item itself is posted super fast. They’re either held locally or sent using the super crazy fast fedex depending on where in the world you are. It’s largely because I’m out of warranty and had to pay for the part and shipping myself. But it’s here, I was just typing up the post that’s about to be below as your post came to me!

Still not impressed on the shipping time, four days shy of a month. I don’t believe it cost them what they charged me at all!

I'm using distilled water with a drop of GSonic per tank. How many record do you all clean before you change the water?
New records? 12-15, and I toss the water after a few days regardless.

Used records, usually fewer. I just keep an eye on the water each cycle and see how grimy it's looking. All the larger stuff gets filtered out but eventually there's enough dissolved solids that it's worth dumping.

Use your best judgement.

For me, I usually don't let the water sit overnight so whether I'm doing 6 records or 30 I'll wait until I'm done cleaning for the day then rinse out the container and filter.
Same. Though thinking about it, I don't know why I'm averse to reusing the water another day. It's not like it's any less worse for wear for sitting in the tank overnight. Hmmm.

I think for me I always pack the machine away at the end of the cleaning session and emptying the tank is a part of that process.
