NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

According to da Yotes management, every attempt will be made to keep them in Arizona.

Personally if they are to relocate, let it be up North or if Mr. Gary insists on keeping them in the States, give Portland a shot. Texas doesn’t need more sports.
What I’d really like to see is the league split into 2 leagues. Kind of like the Premier League. Keep 20-24 teams that are consistently good and have them be in the top part of the league. The rest of the bottom feeders can battle it out and whoever wins that league moves up into the top league the next season and relegation to the team/s that finish like crap in the top league. While we’re at it, get rid of the trapezoid and bring back the 2 line pass. Let’s get f’n crazy up in here!

I love it. That's some real outside the box hockey spitballing right there. I miss doing that over beers with my buddies.

I will always love hockey and I’m really excited that Seattle has their team, but I’m not sold that 32 teams is the right fit for the NHL. Since ads are coming to jerseys, why not open the ice a little more with the international dimensions. Maybe not exact, but close enough. Also, let’s take Mr. Dryden’s advice and make the nets taller.
And since I mentioned the Premier League, 3 points for a win and ZERO points for losing. You can still have overtime but if there’s no winner, that’s right, TIE! 1 point each. No shootout.

And I’m currently drunk on 2 Spicy McChicken sandwiches and a small fry because that’s the price you pay when you ask your almost 7 year old daughter what she wants for dinner on a Friday.

Mine's a sushi fiend. I couldn't afford letting her pick our dinner options too often (or at least it would make a dent in my record collecting).

The Philadelphia Flyers and defenseman Travis Sanheim have agreed on a two-year contract carrying a $4.675-million average annual value, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Sanheim entered the offseason as a restricted free agent with arbitration rights. He was the last player on Philadelphia's books in need of a contract.

The 25-year-old has emerged as a key piece on the Flyers' blue line. He notched 15 points in 55 games last season while averaging nearly 22 minutes per contest.

Sanheim was drafted 17th overall in 2014. He's played in 255 career games since breaking into the NHL during the 2017-18 campaign.

The Flyers transformed their defensive corps this offseason. The club traded Shayne Gostisbehere and Robert Hagg while bringing in Ryan Ellis, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Keith Yandle in separate moves.

I like this idea but ideally they'd add 4 teams to the second tier. Make it 24 in the NHL and 12 in the b league

Bring back the whalers, thrashers, and add 2 new expansions. Maybe Kansas City and Portland or give Juenau a team and an indoor and an outdoor rink for the fans! Imagine hockey under the Northern lights

And I'd say even the top 2..the 2 teams that face off the in B league finals get to move up and whoever wins the ship in the b league gets the 1st pick. Runner up gets 2nd pick in the NHL draft so they have something to play for. Last place from each conference gets dropped to the b league

New York Rangers icon Rod Gilbert has died at the age of 80, the team announced Sunday.

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rod Gilbert - one of the greatest Rangers to ever play for our organization and one of the greatest ambassadors the game of hockey has ever had," said Rangers owner James Dolan.

Gilbert, nicknamed "Mr. Ranger," was one of the most prolific wingers of his era. He's New York's all-time leader in goals (406) and points (1,021). Gilbert suited up on Broadway from 1960-1978 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.

His No. 7 was raised to the Madison Square Garden rafters in 1979. Gilbert was the first player in franchise history to have his number retired.
