NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

But to think they could have had Brady Tkachuk instead 🤔 just sayin'...

It's easy to second guess draft picks after the fact though (but yes that would have been nice). But then Montreal fans (and those of other teams mocking them) were saying Gilbert Brulé was the better pick over Price for at least 3 years after that draft.

But KK is getting his pay day, Tkachuk isn't (yet) and KK was the highest Habs point getter in the playoffs since 2016 (I think Suzuki may have passed him in the last round though) while Tkachuk has never been. I would have like to see the kid continue to develop because players his size playing a skill game can take a while compared to the type of game Tkachuk plays.

If it's a shot in general at the Habs for mismanaging assets, I agree.

Wow, I saw that on Twitter this afternoon before the KK announcement was even made. Apparently, that guy predicted the Perry signings and the Mallioux picks ahead of time too... it's right on too (EDIT: actually, not quite but damn close - the condition was on the wrong pick).

KK may yet end up being a better player, but this is better overall for the team's cap structure and future.

He might be better but paying 6 million for someone who scored 20 points last season is nuts. And if he has a better season this year, he’s probably going to ask for more.
Carolina going hard except in net.

Carolina is puzzling... not sure why they would go hard after KK and not secure goaltending and Hamilton. Other than revenge that is, and they do look like they have thin skins.

Hope their seven fans enjoy KK.

The joke right now is:

Wow, Montreal is screwed now that they lost all their centers in Danault, KK and even Staal.

Yeah, they're certainly going to miss all 12 of their goals (combined).

Friedman mentioned that the condition on the 1st + 2nd rounders is a little more complicated. If both picks are in the 11-32 range, Arizona gets the best and I think they don't get the 2nd in that case (it's confusing). If either Montreal or Carolina's picks is in the top-10, Montreal keeps the best one and they also give their 2024 2nd.

They didn't go hard on KK. They simply were being vindictive and thought for sure MTL would match the offer.
