Today, play an album for some one you miss.
Wax Mannequin & Black Blood – Saxon
This one is a trifecta. Went digital this morning, will play the CD in the car later if the 3-year-old let's me get away with not playing Peppa stories! Firstly, this one rolls back to missing PeSt, who you all got to know a little bit about last week. She absolutely adored Wax Mannequin. Not one to ever get star struck, the last weekend I saw her alive we were all at a festival together and she'd just traded CDs with Wax and got him to sign hers. I have never heard her squeee the way she did over something that wasn't an animal, art or bones. It was really incredible. This was the album that she got, which Wax had just released.
I also miss Wax himself, who I befriended around the same time as PeSt. When I was touring more actively we saw each other once or twice a year, but I've only seen him once in the last 8 years. To a lesser degree, I miss Wax's son, Saxon, who this album was named after. He wouldn't remember me now, he was so young the last time I saw him. But we played trains in Wax's kitchen and it was an absolute blast!
