I wonder if it’s because it wasn’t originally a blue note release? TBH, I love Solid State and was excited to pick it up. It was actually my first TP I believe.

Could be! It was my first TP too. I also had a weird preconceived notion of Chick Corea's music because I was only familiar with some of his later work which I wasn't a fan of.

I was familiar with Chick’s name but completely ignorant to his work. I was coincidentally really into Solid State’s catalog when it dropped. I think I ordered it halfway through the first track.

It's a solid jazz trio album. Very different from his later fusion stuff. The guy knows how to play jazz piano. I went back and looked at his discography with him as a sideman on jazz records and hot damn. He's on an impressive number of seminal jazz albums.

This is one of those albums where you could just listen to either piano, bass or drums for the whole album and block out everything else and it'd still be fascinating.

That's weird because it's not supposed to come out until end of August? Very curious to see what you actually receive haha

I think you might have just gotten another authorization. For preorders they authorize holds on your card. Those holds expire after 30 days typically after which they put the authorization on again.

Yeah that’s very possible, for sure. Even if it does eventually ship, I’m very curious what I’ll actually receive.
 
American Express is having a really cool "Shop Small" promotion right now. Register your Amex card by 7/26, and you get a $5 statement credit on purchases that are a minimum of $10 from Small businesses. You can use it 10x or until it expires on 9/20.
