Online Vinyl Deals

Even as a U2 fan I'm not sure if I want to pull the trigger on the box set. I streamed it and it's fine but I'm never going to listen to those remixes and I'd rather stream the live show so I don't have to flip after every 3 tracks.

That’s awesome! And it was a fantastic deal, that’s for sure. I discussed it with my wife, and we decided on the CDs. She never listens to vinyl, and the only time I really get to listen to music is in the car, I only listen to vinyl occasionally, so the decision wasn’t too difficult.

I will honestly never even clean and listen to the remix CDs and might listen to the live show once. I just tend to overspend on U2 😳

We all have that question...I’m curious to sound on the Jamaican releases. Half speed will probably sound better but Jamaican are numbered it says
 
No personal experience but from what I've seen online, the main difference is that the Jamaican ones are pressed at the Tuff Gong plant in Jamaica. This plant has had a reputation for not so amazing pressings in the past, but was just refurbished and reopened, so who knows. Could be fine or could still suck. The only content difference is on Catch A Fire, which has the original version of the album recorded in Jamaica and a few extra songs

ah iteresting, was about to post that to my knowledge, there is no active pressing plant on Jamaica. good to know thats changed.

The one Jamaican pressing that's supposed to be notably different is "Catch a Fire." I just listened two a couple of tracks online and I the difference seems very minor. Maybe I'm missing something?

Edit: OK, thanks, @BiggaWhat, just explained it has some extra songs, that's different. But I can't tell much difference in the mix. Maybe if I had the actual LPs I would discern it better.

Edit #2: the idea of pressings coming out of a plant in Jamaica sounds great, but what if this plant has quality control issues?
 
No, I think this is two different issues. One is that there are Jamaican pressings and half-speed masters. But the Jamaican version of Catch A Fire is a different thing (and is sold out; the Jamaican pressing of Catch A Fire is just the Tuff Gong pressing of the original release). They don't help themselves out by not being very clear about this. I much prefer the Jamaican version myself, and think the differences are pretty big but that's for you to decide yourself. You should be able to listen to both here
