I think Jorge Ben being Essentials is pretty mediocre, but I also find most of their last 12+ months of essentials to be pretty unimpressive overall. I own Clipse, Feist, FlyLo, De La Soul, and Experience Unlimited. Of those I don't own, I'd only really show additional interest into Queen, and maybe Mitski. Feist I got in the 4 pack from Bespoke, otherwise I probably wouldn't own that either. Even if I grabbed Queen and Mitski I'd be at 7 out of the 15 most recent releases that I would actually want.

I think Tical is a pretty underwhelming release as well, but I think it's turning into a situation where if you drop your membership, you probably have a lower shot at getting a release you really want. I run all 3 tracks at the moment, but I think I'm going to consider dropping essentials and just run RHH and Classics going forward. Essentials is usually the most pressed, so if something crazy dropped I could hopefully swap or add it. I'd probably run all 3 tracks if swaps were decent, but they have been pretty bad recently.

Yeah, the Tical release is extremely underwhelming and this is coming from a huge Wu fan. The release from 4-5 years ago that also has the holographic cover is already a great pressing so this was really completely pointless as you can get it fairly easy for half the cost.

So many other great Wu albums that need a legit remaster or have been oop for a long time but they went the lazy newbury new cool color route instead.

It sold out though quick so what do I know? haha
 
This is a month they know they can capitalize on. So many "outsiders" did a 3 month sub for Outkast... they can essentially use Tical as a throwaway. It's generating false hype due to the amount of 3 month subs for Outkast as it "sold out". The other records this month are pretty weak to the Outkast crowd as well... so most will just settle on Tical.

Assuming VMP is as dumb as they come off... this is pure accident.

Assuming VMP is taking advantage of you... this was their strategy from the beginning.
 
Just to add to the VMP R&HH 'sold out' fiasco I went to check the ROTM in my account after they were announced (wanted to cancel the essentials) and saw that the R&HH (which I have been subbed to since the beginning) was no longer there. I emailed CS to ask why I have seemingly been kicked out of the sub, and messaged the VMP Instagram account. The Instagram account got back to me asking my email address, and after I sent it to them they said they had passed it onto their CS team to respond to me as a priority......its been 14 hours and I haven't heard anything.

Here's my take, out of that list I have the 5 I wanted without having a sub and got them for less than the cost of a sub.

Yep. VMP album resale costs have pretty much plummeted. I have seen all cheaper on discogs or reddit than the code of a 1 month membership. So many people are signing up for 1 record and having to get the 3 month sub so they just sell the others at cost or less.
