Pre-Order Thread

I don’t think that’s recordstore though, it’s that press, and actually most presses of that album. I got that version of mine elsewhere and it still sounds like it was mastered down a crackly phone. Dead oceans fucking suck.
Yup. Mine is absolute dogshit too. Was the record that put me off coloured vinyl for life (stone cold bargain Grateful Dead box sets aside that is)

To be honest I blame dead oceans rather than colour. I think out of all the secretly group pressing that I own most are to some degree or another a bit wank.

But if it's the pressing itself, wouldn't that imply that black vinyl pressed is poor quality as well? Not sure it's because the color. Anyone know?

You can get issues with colour pressings that come out of the colour itself. It often happens with more complicated colour merges, such as that peacock one, or over complicated patterns. Also the types of labels that hype fancy colour are often the types that have the worst pressings...

I don’t know what that is either...
Hilarious low-budget Canadian TV show from the early aughts. Letterkenny is also based in a fictional small Canadian town (based on a real one) with a much higher production value, though I don't think it's quite as funny. Always funny seeing non-Canadians get into these shows because when I watched Letterkenny with my American girlfriend I felt like I had to pause it every 30 seconds to explain a reference.

Damn, this is really exciting for me, because I thought Trailer Park Boys was amazing, but I've never heard of Letterkenny. I'll def check it out if it's on the same wavelength.

The lead characters in LetterKenny are more intelligent than the characters in TPB, but yea id agree there are a bunch of similarities and if you like one you'll probably enjoy the other.

By all accounts it isn't. The reviews I read on Discogs seemed to imply the black is fine. Its just this unnecessary peacock bollocks that sounds like a couple of goats fucking on a bed of broken glass.

Just to add to the mix here, I've got a "blue with kind of swirly silver" pressing and it sounds pretty good, better after a vacuum cleaning.

Good to know. I really like this album. I have the red swirl one, or whatever it's called, and it sounds like crap. I should sell it and replace w black.

Mine also sounded better post vac. But better being within the context that I can't imagine how it could have sounded worse

Yeah that sucks. As I said, mine sounds pretty good, in fact (thankfully!) better than Stranger in the Alps, which I have on lavender vinyl. (Though I suspect that for many, that won't be saying much either.)

Citizen of the US here.
So as Americans .....

The nice part is that for lovely buyer reasons people are willing to buy the pretty versions of Punisher at a ridiculous premium so you can make some cash on the detail

I agree, Blue with Swirly Silver didn't have the extra noise issues others seemed to in terms of glass in the ears
