Pre-Order Thread

#4 Of Monsters and Men is up

Wonder if this kind of rollout is going to become popular. I don't really listen to this band, so I'm not getting any them, especially since it's so expensive for a single LP, but I'm trying to gauge how I'd react to this "5 variant roll out" if it was a must pre-order band for me. I guess I'd probably just get the first one. And if I hit the lottery before then, I'd get all 5.

The colors have been very predictible but the album art is different for each one and some better than others IMO.

My guess is the rollout is to increase the chances of people buying more than one of them. What I didn't check is if I could have ordered the first and then canceled if I wanted a later one. I just ordered the first and called it a day.

Absolutely wish ATO would reveal their variants at the same time. I know the Flightless variants were a little different last time, but two of those mockups look fantastic.

Not into the Superbug variant.
Lol, I’m getting the superbug because I don’t think the other two variants will turn out like the mockups. 🤷🏻‍♂️ personally will be happy with just the tunes though!

I’m probably going ATO. I don’t have any Flightless presses besides the reissues bundle so I don’t feel obligated to keep picking them up.

The Music is number one, always. And honestly, those bright, neon colored ones always look great in person.

Love that Rat’s Nest edition, but I think it’s gonna turn out a little muddy...🤔

I have got quite a few ATO releases in the past but for "Fishies" I went with Flightless for a few reasons. One: I have heard the previous ATO KGATLW releases from ATO didn't sound as good as the Flightless releases. Two: The Flightless releases seem to appreciate in value (at least in US) though I don't typically sell my albums all that frequently. Lastly, There a bit of excotica getting an album from the other side of the planet.

I am not a super King Gizz fanboy but I enjoy their willingness to explore different styles of music with almost every release. From what I have heard from Rat's Nest so far I am excited for this one. I will probably go with Flightless (though, I am unsure of which Variant) .

Team, I could do with some help regarding a label I have never heard before, and the legitimacy/quality of some stuff they have released/up-coming. They are called Radio Loop Loop and seem to specailise in Live shows/radio recordings.

I put the order in for a Tom Waits - KPFK Unplugged Radio Session July 23 1974 (Toms always best when live, the skits alone will be worth the listen)through amazon who have sent the shipping info out already-it will arrive on Wednesday (seems that Amazon has shipped early).

After doing a bit of digging they have issued a handful of stuff with more coming soon which normally I would be interested in, including Townes VAN ZANDT/GUY CLARK Live At Great American Music Hall In San Francisco, 20 1 1991 and Frank ZAPPA/THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION Live 1975.

Whats throwing me off is their incredibly low prices, at around £13 for each release (including the 2LP sets). Its a big red flag (as well as the fact that they are releasing live recordings from such a widespread roster).

Anyone have any opinions/info they could share?
This label specializes in the Euro loopholes and time expiry for public recordings and issues a lot of radio concert shows (hence their name). Sound varies by release but is acceptable. The Neil Young and Rush ones are ok.

I'm sure you don't have both of a single album, but did you notice a difference in sound quality on Fishies from your ATO albums? Do they use different plates/mastering between Flightless and ATO?

I have the just the Flightless copy of “Fishies” and it does sounds quiet and flat. The only ATO KGATLW album I own is “Sketches of Brunswick East” and while it’s got a bit of surface noise during the quieter parts it’s nothing distracting. It’s also a standard black pressing so I am probably not the best resource. Most of the pressing insight I got was from Discogs comments.
